A lead of just 19. The top order really do have to perform for once if we are to have a chance of winning.
Other facts to consider - they scored 8 sixes compared to our zero and their score was achieved in 30 less overs.
really need some wickets quickly. Kent will win their game and Somerset shouod not lose so us getting win points is essential.
19 wickets falling on day one in Southampton!! Kent over 100 ahead and 3 bowling points in the bag. Looks like we have to beat Gloucs with max bowling points.
Not looking so good down on the south coast - Hants 41/6
Kent have failed to pick up any batting points. We need to move on and get to 200 or better still 250. I think Sibley will be sorely missed next season.
A great comparison Mad - perhaps Strauss should be told!!
One very simple way of fitting all the games in would be not to have long gaps between the games. Example this month. The Somerset game finished on 15th with the next game not starting until 20th. Same with the Blast which could be played on consecutive days if necessary (only 40 overs per day compared to 96 in CC). I agree with Mad the CC needs to be with at least 9 teams per league
Surely it was Hain's call as he was running to the keeper's end and the ball was at that end of the field.
22 overs left - 6 an over to win !! On Youtube it looked a shocker for Burgess
Given how the match is progressing do you think we might have a "slog" in the final 15/20 overs?
In fairness at that stage there was just the possibility of getting the runs so going for boundaries was displaying a positive attitude. With 3 down though caution is what is now required.
Warks should stop taking wickets - reduce the time left to survive!!
With a lead around 300 overnight they could afford to declare. However, an hour's batting in the morning will make it safe for them with still a very good chance of bowling us out
Malc does that mean Paul has got competition? !!
Rhodes didn't look too happy being given out caught behind
Thanks for that Highveld. However, it did look a strange call. Previous ball had been called a no-ball. This one just went round the leg side just wide of the batsman's legs!. A brief conversation took place between bowler and umpire! I suppose it may have been called as being deliberate - given Warks position would hardly be a defensive measure.
Just seen wide given against Yadav - just went down leg side. Are one-day wides now being given in red ball games?
So after a blank weekend the four day game gets under way this Monday morning.
Terry reading through the job description I think he/she needs higher qualifications than that you describe!!!!!!!!!!
Totally agree. When I look at the fixture list and the reduced number of CC games I am so glad I relinguished my membership a few years ago. Sadly there is nothing to entice me back. Having virtually no cricket to watch in the whole of August is a disgrace.
Can you imagine the EPL deciding the number of fixtures will be reduced to 32 but still have 20 teams. Then in the middle of the season close down while a handful of franchised teams are fowmed to play game of 31 minutes each way without goalkeepers for there are loads of goals (like loads of 6's in the 16.4)
