In his Cricketer article, George Dobell said:
"It is too early to say for sure if Larsen will be the only member of the administrative or coaching staff to leave or to comment on who may replace him. While former club captain, Jim Troughton, would be a popular appointment, he is thriving in his current role on the coaching staff at Surrey and may prove tough to lure back. Equally, Ashley Giles has his hands full at Worcestershire and is unlikely to return at this stage.
If Larsen really is to oversee the transition, he will, no doubt, suggest a New Zealander replace him."
Liking a joke, George adds: "A return from Mark Greatbatch, however, seems most unlikely."

Most unlikely - I hope George wasn't joking !!

I don't get why we play Somerset at home on 22 June in the championship but I can't find a reverse fixture. Not on the ECB site or Somerset's site.

Same with Durham and Yorkshire. Why do we play some twice, but not everyone?

Been like that for a few seasons now. Was it the 16.4 nonsense that caused it? 9 teams playing 14 games makes home and away impossible!!! It's called ECB Logic

Hopefully the rumour that OH-D is resigning to become Archbishop of Canterbury is not true, or we are in deep trouble.

Don't worry - that job's going to Lineker - he is always preaching about something!

I’m not sure what the point of selecting Mousley was just for him to bat at 7 and not bowl…

Well at least in the next game he bowles 2 overs and faced 4 balls!!!!

I remember back in '57 viewing the scoreboard from the top of the 1A bus on the way home from school!!

He sounds a really level headed young man.

Playing in Div 2 will be to his benefit and hopefully enable him to develop his game.

That last post is important. One should look at the dismissal in the context of the game. However, memory does say that on a number of occasions the poor opening came when what was needed was a stay at the crease to wear down the bowlers rather than trying to score runs - we had a few shocking low scores this season.

Was going to watch the You Tube stream but the commentator (No idea who he is, sounds Southern) has the most irritating way of talking, a bit like a pre-teen schoolboy, 'Fink' instead of 'Think' and 'Wiv' instead of 'With', how standards have dropped, can't imagine John Arlott, Peter West, CMJ or Richie Benaud getting a job if they sounded like that. Now the female is at it, 'Anuvver', I give up.

Paul you must have volume control on your TV!!! Just pretend you are Billy No Mates in the ground.

Gerry I do apologise for showing my ignorance. It is obvious really that the Hundread is such a successit it should be extended to the whole of July and August. The Blast can be slotted in in May and Early September. County Cricket reduced further starting at the beginning of March with the final rounds in October. If I put this idea to the ECB do you think I could claim royalties?

Following on with the weather situation 5 matches resulted in no play today and in 3 of those games the match itself is yet to start. It really is making a farce of the County Championship.

Saw someone make the perfect point. This is the part of the season when it matters most, should be the crescendo for teams fighting for the title, promotion and relegation, and the weather is determining the outcome not the players.

Absolutely. It perhaps explains how Notts are scoring well against some poor Warks bowling. Due to the weather a draw is the likely result it makes it unlikely Notts will get 6 more points than us. Inaddition with today washed out at New Rd it is virtually impossible for Lancs to get enough points to get anywhere near us.
Perhaps it would be better if this round of matches had been played in August and have the 16.4 played in September. Certainly cricket lovers would prefer it and I suspect platers would prefer not fielding for so long in these temperatures!

A stupid time to play cricket - very rare for decent weather after second week of September.

Not to mention Birmingham boy Andrew Symonds.
I'm loving the fact that we have a thread started about our next game that has filled three pages before the squad is even announced! The randomness could be a metaphor for our whole season.

And they say women can talk................hey hey

Without wishing to rain on Highveld's parade, can I just point out that there is no evidence that Einstein actually said the words attributed to him.

Gerry you have just ruined my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until it is mathamatically impossible to go down a side is not safe.

It would be negligent and irresponsible to not taking actions to ensure the club is not relegated, rather than just hoping other sides failing to obtain the points they need to survive.

So on that basis why is your team choice not including an opener who has notched up 1000 runs and include a batsman batting at 6 or 7 who has had a very unsuccessful season?

Little chance of play tomorrow having looked at the forecast.

It just shows the lack of thought for spectators that goes into planning fixtures. I can see no reson why the games could not have been held yesterday with today as a reserve day. Now it looks as if they will do their best to get 30 overs in to avoid a refund or at least 15 overs so they can keep half the money.

No mention of returning the T20 team to its proper name - Warwickshire Bears? Looks like they still want to support proceding with the 16.4 team.

Having seen Dan Mousley's hair, I wouldn't trust his hairdresser.
I agree with what Reabank says. Robinson is a highly regarded coach with an excellent track record. But, looked at overall, he hasn't really delivered the success that the Club needs and deserves. However, I also agree that there needs to be a full exploration of what has gone wrong and it may not all fall at Robinson's door.

Given Robinson's record could it be his drive and enthusiasm has deminished? Just saying as I have seened that in the past both in business and sport.

Gerry, why do you say this club "deserves" success?
