How about David Gower and even Stuart Broad started his career at Leicestershire. A Bears favourite Darren Maddy is another produce by the Foxes.
Blimey we must have been on the same bus many times - I caught the 1a at the first stop in college road by Springfield Rd. in the mid 50s. I must admit though I can't remember what I said to the bus conductor (does E B know what they are!) but it would not have been Edgbaston because the reply would have been "where in Edgbaston"!
Do you remember the turnstyles to get in and the wooden benches in the Rea Bank Stand - always getting splinters because we wore short trousers!!!
Ah the memories -
My goodness you have to watch what you say and do these days.
Don't forget he also has a domestic T20 Winners Trophy (with Birmingham) in 2014 and a Royal London Cup in 2016.
What is the benefit to the player in receiving his cap other than prestige?
I can't believe we have a major sport where the administrators want to see FEWER games played!! You would think they would be trying to cram in as many matches as possible to maximise income from spectators and sponsors.
Surely for a Members' Committee to truly represent the views of the membership (and not just their own views) every member should be given the detaiils of every committee member and how to contact them. It should not be just down to "you will see them in the members' lounge in the lunch interval".
How much has his development cost the club ? To let him leave just when he should be at his peak seems a terrible waste especially when you consider he was not really given a chance to prove his worth this year.
H it's what struck me the first time I went to a ball game - the Cardinals were playing a "series" - a game every evening for, I think, 5 days or it might have been more. And of course as the USA can't conceive a draw they carry on playing until there is a winner which can take them well in to the night. Compare that to the CC where for half the 4 days players are sitting in the dressing room and even longer if it rains!
For all the T20 games they are fielding for less than 2 hours. Which leads me on to say if they can play two T20 games (80 overs max) on Finals Day why can't they do something similar or play on consecutive days.
Will someone please explain how he was allowed to leave Warks.
I don't like this apparent acceptance of just 14 CC matches. We need a system whereby teams play each other both home and away.
This needs raising with the club at the first opportunity. Normally I would assume the management know better than those watching the game from the stands. But this defies logic and members deserve an explanation IMO
So we are letting go the batsman who came second behind Hain! Madness.
I agree with you Paul. Over here in Leics friends/neighbour always refer to me following Warks. never Birmingham or indeed anything else. I just wish Birmingham could be dropped from the T20 team and go back to naming the Birmingham end after one of the Warwickshire past heroes.
Incidently, apart from commentators does anyone call it the Birmingham End?
It is a shame that Warwickshire continues to be omitted. Is it because Birmingham now sits in the county of West Midlands and it's felt Warwickshire is somewhere else? Perhaps the club should rename itself as West Midlands County Cricket Club !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this the first time trouble at Yorkshire is not coupled with the name of a certain Geoffrey Boycott !!
Reminds me of the last day of the 2005 Ashes game but today had the added tension of would the light fading be the winner
As it's not really a pavilion I think that end should be renamed the Norwell End. What a performance.
And to think those running the game want to reduce the number of games played!!!
Half way there - living on a prayer
