Shame about Norwell but what a last match performance he made.

Personally, I would switch Garton for Barnard as he adds a genuine option with both bat & ball..........we dont usually bowl 12 overs of seam either so we could share out those overs between Gleeson, Ali & Barnard and retain genuine 7 batters against what will be better bowling outfits. Yates & Davies could go after the bowling 1st couple of overs without worrying too much about losing a wicket.

Hain & Bethell nearly pulled that off with some shots from Garton thrown in.

I am concerned that our seamers have lost control of games recently which negates the good work our spinners put in. Northants were struggling until Miles gave them 16 runs in one over and got Zaib off to a flyer by bowling pies.........once his eye was in, we were not going to contain him and then we were wayward again whenever a seamer came on.

Barnard would give us some help as a genuine AR and we could then bring in Burgess for Benjamin. Drop Miles as imo we only need 3 seamers and bring in Yates to open. Plenty of batting and bowling options with those changes.

We usually save such capitulations for the QF's

Miles out, Benjamin out for those games and hope that Foulkes & Garton dont have nightmares like they have in a couple of recent games

Burgess & Barnard in for me

You can always rely on Miles to get the opposition back into the game, what a terrible over, spraying it everywhere.

Awful from us..........we should never have declared overnight with our inability to bowl teams out.

At what point do the club admit that Robinson is not up to the job & Davies not up to being captain?

If we do not make changes now, we will be in the 2nd division next season

Odds of a declaration a few overs before the close?

We scored 374 on the first day so I hope not with our record of not being able to take 10 wickets

All we had to do was to potter along at 3ish an over until the last 15 overs of the day and then have a go at them.......

Ridiculous

We are losing wickets now chasing after runs because of silly decisions and negative batting.

We need to be taking a run a ball off Leach, the boundaries will come off the seamers.

Worcester have won

RR is 2.77 and the innings is going nowhere.

It has been running at around 3.7 for the other sessions but despite a very good partnership between Yates & Davies two silly shots have put the skids under this. Both were going perfectly fine until trying to up the tempo without needing to.

Well played Sam Hain, assisted by Burgess

OK, we'll get rid of the batters, bowlers and coaching staff. Can the stewards stay or do they need to go too? And I've just had a word with the cleaning lady who's a bit worried about losing her job in the big clear out.

That is not what I am saying............we have good players but we are just not getting performances out of them in red ball cricket and this has been ongoing for 2 and a half seasons now. That is down to leadership, if the basic talent is there but the performances aren't then you have to conclude that the coaching and decision making is below par, recruitment as well.

Obviously you think that things are ok then and we have just been unlucky?

We should be doing better than this with the players that we have. We cant bowl teams out twice and we cant build innings totals because key batsmen keep getting out cheaply.........despite the fact that we have a deep looking batting line up.

A few of us said last season that there is something wrong and that Robinson should have been dispensed with along with the other coaches. Our bowling attack is toothless once the new ball has lost its shine. Miles is not good enough, Norwell not fit enough.

How is it that teams like Hampshire & Essex keep rolling out their bowlers season after season and get performances from them whilst ours break down and underperform?

We need a new leader with fresh impetus who demands and gets better performances from the players, we also need to review our player recruitment which is just not good enough. Better standards need setting all round.

Woakes not sharp enough to play today for me and we wasted the new ball on him. Poor decision to play him & the ever expensive Miles, Hampshire's top order is very average but we look toothless. The new ball was giving some assistance early on as well but we could not take advantage...........another long match on the way by the looks of things.

Not been on for a while but a couple of things to mention on out T20 so far:

  1. Our bowling attack is really on point with lots of flexibility, options and threat.
  2. It is really nice to see home grown/youth playing key parts with Yates, Haine, Mousley & Bethell in particular of late.
  3. I am worried that our batting is not deep enough when we come up against better attacks and that we over rely on Hain, Mousley & Bethel for the bulk of runs. Barnard needs to play in place of Benjamin, giving us another bowling option and with so many all rounders available we could put in another batsman (Burgess?) if we get through to the knockout stages.

Hampshire looking like they are going to win & Kent looking likely to draw which will put us in the bottom 2

We don't look like we will take a wicket if we play all day

We have had real issues taking 20 wickets for 3 seasons now. Injuries don't help (or bloody misfields) but getting out for 90 odd in the 2nd innings was criminal. Once Essex see off the new ball this game will be done..........no decent side should be losing from the position we were in, even taking into account the injuries.
