This is frustrating now..........they should have been bowled out for 150ish

Gregory is an extremely average red ball batter and Khan is a genuine number 10 yet they both look as if they are in no trouble at all.

We cant seem to get more than one or two of our bowlers/batsmen working well in the same innings, god knows what has happened to Danny Briggs but Gregory rightly targeted him. OHD has been a little unlucky to be fair.

I hope these extra runs do not come back to bite us.

It looks as though that will be it for the day which seems a better outcome for us than Somerset at this stage.

We are just not good enough. Sibley, Yates, Lamb with the bat and Norwell & Rhodes with the ball have allowed this game to slip away........we cant blame the young kids but at the same time they had a 21yr old & an 18yr old who shared nearly 200 runs!!

Some of this bowling from Somerset is garbage but we cannot cope with it despite them not winning a one day game all season.

Somerset have been mostly blown away by the other teams attacks this season but we allowed them to build an innings that we cant compete with them.

What a depressing season this has been, pretty disgraceful stuff from all but Hain, OHD & Burgess.

Surely there must be some changes to personnel after this?

Only just logged back in so apologies for not responding sooner.

1. The opening pair/alternatives to it rather than sticking with Davies & Sibley no matter what (personally I think we should have put Sibley on gardening leave for at least the one day games once he announced he was leaving). It has meant that out middle order has been under pressure all season and in all competitions.
2. A reliable fast medium partner for OHD. The club cant be blamed for Briggs form but we took a punt on Miles & Norwood who both maxed out last season and Rhodes is not a front line bowler. We have responded by bringing in an Indian international but is it too late?
3. A thought out plan of personnel to play across 3 formats and including the loss of players to the hundred. Some players have not been given enough of a chance and some (Davies in particular) have been given too many chances, costing us heavily.

Garratt, Johal & E Brookes should be getting game time by now they are 20, 21 & 22 yrs old now but undercooked. Other counties would have given them lots more game time allowing the coaches to make decisions on whether they are good enough or not.

Poor again from us playing 1980's cricket once more.

That is the end of our limited overs season, just a relegation battle to look forward to with nobody looking like they can bowl other than OHD.

It is hard to see how wholesale changes are not made for next season, we have been awful with the ball in hand in all formats and apart from a few of the T20 games we have been no better with the bat.

The economy rates of our bowlers today is shameful.

eta - I have just checked the respective teams batting strike rates as well, they look like scorecards that are 35 years apart!

Kept our nerve in the end for an entertaining win but there was absolutely no need for that to get down to the wire again!

This is absolutely dreadful stuff

When you look at that Notts batting line-up past Slater, it is pretty embarrassing from us but I fear that there is more of this to come this season.

I have plenty to say about this pathetic performance but I will not bother.

Surrey deserved to win that game.

Everything that is wrong with the club was captured within that 'performance'.

I have tickets for Friday but I am really not sure whether I will bother.

If we lose to Surrey's 3rd team I am going to be absolutely fuming

I still say that we should have been very circumspect for the first 10 overs and only try and put balls away that were pies, 1's &2's would have naturally come as would Surrey's frustration.

Anyway agree to disagree. One thing we can say is that we are now in the mire with Somerset's game in hand and points going to them for a draw.

We need beat them to stay up imo.

God knows what has happened above!

</html>I The trouble is that Hain chased a leg side delivery that he did not need to and Burgess was walking into a swinging delivery that he should been watching and getting some bat on. McAndrew can bat as well but he then chases after another swinging delivery rather than being watchful.

If we would have tried to see off the first 10 overs without taking any risks, the game would be in our control. Instead we are staring down the barrel of not just a defeat but also relegation. We would still have lost 2 or 3 wickets but once the lead creeps to 260 and the overs start ticking away, Surrey would have become more desperate needing the win.

Yes there have been a couple of bad decisions but we have reverted to type this morning. Yesterday's performance was out of the ordinary for us this season I am afraid.

Our intent today should have been to kill the first 10 overs off and this would have frustrated Surrey and taken time out of them being able to chase a score down.

Instead we come out trying to hit boundaries and are now clinging on................not anymore as the 9th goes down.

Our scoring rate is atrocious.

3 slips in at the 50th over..........and not just because they have taken a wicket recently.

The new ball will be due and we will be lucky to have scored 150

Miles 2nd over of the morning was awful.

A single off the first ball that should have gone to the boundary, then 3 wide short balls that Denly for whatever reason decided not to take advantage of and the last ball full and angling down leg side hit me for 4 ball that Denly took advantage of.

It is rubbish, he should not be playing in such an important game when his bowling is so far off the radar.

I was hoping for a longer delay today or a wash out as I can only see a defeat coming for us from this point.

One good partnership for Kent could mean curtains for us in this match.

Miles, Brooks & Rhodes just cannot seem to bowl an over without giving a four ball away. It is too short & too wide.

We should bring Briggs on for a spell to see if that can tie an end down/give them something else to think about rather than only having OHD to turn to.

We need to win this match.
