I can only hope that the delay is that the ECB are seeing the calamitous performances down under and are trying to get the schedule altered to try and get some more red ball cricket in the summer.

If only there was not some daft competition recently created that no one wanted nor felt was needed but cost rather a lot of money which needed to be placed in the prime cricket playing weeks of high summer.

Hampshire, the Aegus Bowl….isn’t that where he worked during the 100?

I would hope that if they are delayed beyond the early bird window for memberships that the club would extend it. It can be hard to justify purchasing a membership without seeing the fixture list to see how many matches I would actually be able to go and see.

At the same time if TB fronts up acknowledges that what he did was wrong and is determined to make amends by apologising and committing to re-education he could be with us next season. Not only that but he could be an example of the sport acknowledging that things have been wrong in the past but are determined to move forward; not just by being sacked/paid off/retiring but by being an example of positive change.

Personally I think there will be countless more examples of racism and bullying in dressing rooms across the country, what was deemed acceptable is now being proved not to be. 'Banter', which I have always found to be a convenient word to cover a multitude of sins, needs to be examined and people made aware that words cannot just be taken at face value.

Carlos has been confirmed for the whole of the T20 campaign and as captain. I think that’s a good move, he is very experienced and seems to have got on well with the squad. Will be interesting if we also try to sign another player closer to the campaign starting.

I think you may be right but I would say Lamb is a very good squad player to have around who can contribute across all the formats when required.

Considering Holder wasn’t around on the day we won the title, he played a couple of games so actually had more involvement than Hose and Pollock, I presumed he had gone home already.

A great way to end the day, it was good being able to hang around afterwards for the presentation to see the joy on the players faces. There really does seem to be a good spirits amongst the squad….Bresnan in particular seems very popular!

Sun with some cloud at the ground. I hope doesn’t rain in Streetly….I left the washing out to get here before close of play!

Well whatever they decided to do, it has backfired spectacularly. What a terrible start to the days play.

Yates out early, he really struggles to get going early in the innings. Something they need to work on over the winter, hopefully with a batting coach who has a track record of improving players

I hope he is snapped up soon by another media outlet. I really enjoy his viewpoint.

It’s not exactly a surprise though is it, it’s being happening for years.

Over the winter something needs to be done to work on the mental aspect to try and stop these collapses.

It’s unfortunate that so many of our batsmen appear to be so out of form all at the same time.

I believe Sibley sought the help of an outside coach after struggling when he first came here and it was only then that he started to score on the county circuit.

Has Rhodes improved or has he just had more opportunity? I don’t think he has had a particularly strong season (cue a match winning performance today and tomorrow).

In recent years can anyone name a batsmen who has improved consistently?

In my time as a member, around 8 years, our batting unit has always been the weak link.

It is a real shame that after the good work from our bowlers that as usual the batsmen cannot capitalise. It’s an ongoing concern that has been the case for years.

Some of the players seem to be hitting a bad run of form just at the wrong time.

He has struggled to find the consistency required, a good score every 5 games or so so it’s no surprise.

That being said I was surprised he wasn’t picked for the quarter final, especially as Yates hadn’t a great record.

To be honest though I don’t see much difference between himself and Hose.

They started a lot better than we have though. For 14 wickets (and counting) to fall within the first three hours of play suggests very difficult batting conditions.

The BBC are reporting a COViD related issue. Play due to start at 11.30am….rather annoying

The batting line up didn’t look balanced to me. It doesn’t excuse the awfulness of some of those wickets. Hose yet again failed to justify selection. Yates struggled to get the ball away and with that we were behind.
