He hasn't batted much so hope he gets in with tired bowlers and runs on the board. I would love to see that if only to see England win. Typical of our ,media, to suddenly turn on the side. I have seen countless games where hands are shaken with the draw looming and a player in the 80's so too much was made of it. People appear to forget that this Indian side had the T20 World Cup completely re-organised especially for them because they wanted a different start, a change of venue, loads of time between games (England played 3 times in 4 days at different venues) and behaved like pampered princes. Also last time they were here, had a Test cancelled claiming an outbreak of Covid, whereas a chance to prepare early for the IPL. was more likely to be the case and they did appear to get out of the UK very quickly on the same plane. I wish the UK media had longer memories, no, the England team are not angels but India do play 'The Victim' very well and I would love a good England win against a nation who do appear to get their own way ALL the time and hold everyone else in the cricket world, to ransom.

We could solve it all by getting rid of The Hundread. We could then space all the games out and have more time to give players rest/practice time. The Hundread money is useful but if people want to watch cricket they will, they will have no choice but to watch whatever is left, too many people in the UK who call themselves cricket fans (Supposedly, more than a million) yet never watch any and if they do, it is a Test. As Rob Bransgrove (Don't really like him but...) said in the Cricketer magazine, the ECB generate £320M but they only release £100M of it. They could give the counties the money they would miss out on if we scrapped The Hundread and still have plenty. If county cricket is a loss-maker especially the CC, then we could ask the ECB, where else they are going to get their players from for international games.

I am watching bits of the whole last day on YouTube, great coverage apart from the female summariser who keeps saying "Free" instead of 'Three' and "Firty" instead if 'Thirty'. A very mature innings from Malik, not trying to score every ball and realising that you need to stay there to actually get runs.

He looked really good before he got injured, he had some criticism during the first game v Sussex but he was very economical and beat the bat a good few times and after that, he was really good. Would be good to see him back.

Who drops out for Bethell then. Whether or not he has played international cricket, he hasn't batted for ages, since Somerset in the CC so it will weaken a side who have a bit of momentum after a T20 quarter-final and now a brilliant win with a run chase. If you dropped Yates, then who would open and you cannot drop Malik (2 first class 100's. Bethell 0) or Mousley who batted really well, reeled himself in not to go too attacking too early.

I remember the talk was that Greatbatch told Dougie Brown that he should look to play a bit of club cricket as he wasn't an automatic choice. Did he even take a look at DB's contribution to the team, I hope we never employ someone like him again. Bethell has no form behind him so would weaken the side if he came in.

Great to look back at the comments for Worcestershire yesterday on the BBC Cricket site, you would think they were home and dry. I will enjoy to the max, the gloating I will do if any of them dare to go back on and type some more, it is doubtful.

Well, ** me sideways, who saw that coming after an awful day 2. Webster has had a habit of going too hard at the ball at certain times but held himself back today and it paid off. A great signing but also someone who could get under England's skin in the next few years. Malik, very mature and pity Mousely didn't get a ton because he kept it going this morning.

We can't really complain about the morning. Only 1 wicket lost and I just don't want to lose to our neighbours especially reading some of the tosh they were coming up with on the BBC cricket site last night. I want a 'No Wickets' day, it's happening in the Test, we need it here as well.

There are supposed to be about 30 overs left today. That isn't going to happen so you have to wonder why Worcestershire are still batting. I wouldn't think that there are going to be more than 20 bowled but can't say I am bothered, I doubt we could have chased 330 so they are just eating up overs.

Worcestershire have enough, it's just a case of how many overs they want to bowl. Tomorrow is supposed to be hot and sunny so we want players to knuckle down and bat big. Who do we have who can do that?

Whoever did it, can they do one to last all tomorrow as it might at least mean we can get more draw points than bonus points and keep our unbeaten CC record v Worcestershire, going for another year.

Andy, who said I was having a go at the batting, I actually pointed out that it doesn't look weak even though stats do distort things and I did point out that the bowling is the problem. Maybe I should paint a phoney picture of things like the club website often does.

Amazing that we have 8 players averaging between 29 and 61 and yet batting is still a problem. I suppose it's the games where we get into trouble that we appear to struggle to rescue ourselves. Our main problem though is definitely bowling a side out.

A dreadful day and unless something unexpected happens, our neighbours are going to beat us in a CC for the first time in 25 years. It was obvious what Brookes was going to do this morning so why bring on a part-time bowler. Other times when nothing is happening in CC games and a bit of Mousely might work, Davies doesn't give him a look. Yates left one, Davies looked patient and ready to 'Ride it out' until he decided to play a pull to a ball that wasn't there for it. Webster was going nicely and went for a big shot when it wasn't needed and with thought and patience we could be 250-5. Shahzad might have played a few Tests but he is no world-beater but we appear to be making all bowlers look like Malcolm Marshall. Can't see us getting out of this one, we needed at least 2 wickets tonight so I expect us to be chasing 400 at some stage tomorrow.

I love the 'Player Welfare' angle, I do wonder how many of these players who are worried about playing too much, are going to have a good rest when The Hundread is on or are they going to earn good money playing it and then hope to play in many franchise leagues throughout the Winter. A lot of these players also seem to forget that there are so many players who are not considered good enough by their counties, to play an limited-overs cricket and they only get limited chances to play and probably feel like spare parts for much of the season and might feel as though they could get knocked out of form by not playing for long periods.

Not only that, how much do the people who 'Run' the club, expect us to pay for our membership. We will be watching almost half of what we used to get and I have just calculated that when I paid my first membership back in 1990, it is the equivalent of about £120 in today's money. Do they really think that membership will keep to the same levels, the dull pitches, fewer CC games, 50-over games played elsewhere and fewer T20 games. Well, tell me if you can Warwickshire committee, what am I actually getting for my buck, not very much from what I can work out, about 30 days to watch my county and not that rancid pile of shit call The ***. When membership is virtually nil and no one is paying to come in to watch a tedious 500 plays 500 draw, the idiots will wonder where everyone has gone. You cannot copy the IPL, the UK is a different beast and it is being killed by the ECB. Also, with lack of membership, they will have more £100+ Test tickets to sell but there are only so many of those to flog that people in these times can afford.

With the likely diminishing of CC games, 50-over games being moved elsewhere, me hating The Hundread and if the T20 gets scrapped, I could be another person who decides I can't be bothered with buying a membership. 36 consecutive years but people who 'RUN' this game do not care about people like me. They want to make money from The Hundread and pour it into 'Grass Routes' as they say, for hardly any children who have no intention of playing, who come from schools where they will not get a chance to play.

Lots of scenario's can occur but teams like Durham and Lancashire could help us out as they appear to be safe, by beating all their opponents in the remaining games. Anyone look at the crowd and think, "Where have they all gone", it would really piss me off if crowds for The Hundread were bigger. Is it the team inconsistency or have crowds just got bored with T20. I did hear that crowds in general are down overall for T20.

Really don't think the batsmen are to blame, not many side chase down scores like that and trust us to lose to a side who were on a downward spiral. It is so close in our group that even Notts could still qualify. The bowling was poor, too wide, too short, too often with a few extras thrown in. They more or less batted consistently throughout their first 3, all scoring at 2 runs per ball. We need lots of results to go our way.
