How brilliant for you Terry. Many happy returns!

Don’t be ridiculous, he has been picked when not in form before so why would that change now? If it has been reported he has an injury then he has an injury. None of this conspiracy nonsense please.

Five wickets for two runs is just not acceptable regardless of the pitch.

I saw a list of players across the country whose contracts were up at the end of the year, I've tried to attach a link to the website (a Derbyshire blog which actually is a very interesting read) but it may not work. Amongst the fact that Surry seem to have an entire first team nearing the end of their contracts I could see that ours included messers Burgess, Hannon-Dalby and Briggs. Whilst Briggs has found it tough the past couple of years with injuries I would be most disappointed if Burgess and OHD were allowed to leave.

Quite a few interesting names available though if we were going to be looking at strengthening from outside of the academy.

Barnard seems to be in a bit of a bad patch form wise (I’ve not been following so it may have been a good ball that got him). He started the T20’s alright but lost form quickly. Hopefully he can recover it soon, he does offer a nice balance to the side normally.

Good to see Maxwell making a contribution thus far and a super century by Yates.

Massively disappointed after yesterday, whilst we fought back hard at the end with some tight bowling there really was a sense of deflation from the crowd after their powerplay was so much better than ours.

Whilst it would be wrong to blame a single player I can’t help but feel Maxwell was a big disappointment. When a marquee overseas player is signed one would expect at least one match winning/defining performance but he just didn’t deliver. Whilst he was far from awful…he was in fact mainly ordinary.

We did lack the consistent batting unit throughout the tournament but the recruitment was not necessarily to blame for that. In signing Maxwell and Ali they just have thought they would be getting experienced players who would not only contribute with individual performances but also acting as a calming/supportive influence on their colleagues. Again, it just didn’t work out that way.

I liked what I saw from Drakes, maybe worth looking at for next year. Benjamin really has struggled this season, yesterday he just couldn’t time his shots. I wonder what the future holds for him, I think he is in the middle of a long contract so perhaps a loan move after the 16.9 to another county for some red ball games?

Bethell and Mousley will have greatly benefited from this years tournament and hopefully will take these experiences forward.

We simply need to tie down Sam Hain to a massively long contract, without him we are nowhere!

What interested me more was that both Bethall and H. Brookes have been selected as ‘wildcards’…whatever that means. So two young players unavailable for the Royal London cup.

I tend to follow Derbyshire a little and Thomson has not played a great deal really. They have a few spinners who can contribute but are not overly consistent. They were excited by Lambs arrival but after a few good performances at the start of the season he has struggled with injuries and a loss of form.

A few old bears in the Pears vs Derbyshire match, Pollock is on 14 off of 123 balls and that includes two boundaries from the last over. Not what is usually seen from Ed.

This is going to be quite a painful defeat.

Again showing how indispensable Sam Hain is to us.

Bad start to the reply, hopefully we can make a similar recovery!

Those two early wickets seem a long time ago

Yes I initially saw Mo Ali which really confused me, changed now so it is actually two ‘proper’ pace options at least.

Well that was an unexpected line up….5 spinning options, only one frontline pace option and two part timers.

I think Australia 3-1 with one test drawn due to weather.

I’d like to think England could do well but with so many bowlers injured it could be a struggle for them. The batsmen can blow hot or cold, I think a lot will rest on the form of Joe Root and if he can hold it together whilst the fireworks go off all around him.

It’s strange to think how dominant we seemed in the first four matches and now we are so abject.

If England continue to ignore Sam I wonder how long until the franchise’s start sniffing around? He is some player!

Well this is pretty poor going.

I don’t know why but i have always struggled to take to Moeen, I guess it’s similar to what some people felt for David Gower (a bit before my time). A talented player who makes it look so easy when it works, but gets out in infuriating ways.

Good luck to him for England this, I hope it works out for him. He was definitely messed around by Root and I understood why he retired when he did. It does unfortunately really show the country’s dearth of quality with spin bowling though.

I wasn’t too fussed about him coming across for the T20 campaign and not paying anny attention to any franchise cricket I don’t know what his record was elsewhere. It seemed more of a marketing signing than a cricketing one.
