No reference at all to Robinson in the PR. The silence is deafening.

I certainly hope you are right BR.

Meanwhile, as the club dithers, we are missing out on potential coaches and players. Recruitment is crucial. Even today Middlesex have signed Zafar Gohar from Gloucester (classed as a domestic rather than overseas player). He would have been an ideal addition to be our main spinner and he can bat too.

Interview with Ethan Bamber, VERY interesting (possibly!), that all the WCCC part is done by Larsen, there are no comments by Robinson and no mention by Bamber that he is looking forward to working with / benefiting from the coaching of MR ..... blah blah ..... like new recruits often say.

I might be reading too much into this, but I might not be!!

Larsen seems to be front and centre at the moment. Robinson nowhere to be seen or heard.
It's a shame we missed out on Lehmann, a real coup for Northants. That's the calibre of coach we need.

Total silence since this review was called. No recruitment, no words from the hierarchy.

Interesting news that Darren Lehmann is available and in the running for Northants. We need to move quickly to get him (if Trotty or Bell are unavailable). Ideal replacement for the dead-man walking Robinson.

That would be a real shame. Perhaps the clubs can fund the service from the millions being brought in from the 16.4? That particular competition has a massive marketing budget, of which even a fraction could subsidise county cricket coverage.
On the plus side we might never have to hear Clive Eakin's heavy breathing again.

Robinson was bordering on smugness in his post match interview, saying we could enjoy it and relax once in the knowledge that we were safe. I really don't think he should take any pleasure out of a desperately poor season which was ultimately saved by our local rivals beating another team.
He made some more delusional comments about improving in white ball cricket plus the usual excuses ranging from the weather, the pitches, injuries and the overseas player situation.
I sincerely hope that is the last one we have to listen to. Alarmingly, he spoke with some confidence about the end of season review. He needs to pack his bags along with the other coaches.

Do many players actually improve much once they are 25? In most cases somoene who has played regular first team cricket since they were 18 would probably have reached a plateau by that age. Obviously there are always rare exceptions.

Many of the dismissals this season, all through the team have been caused by bad decisions by the player concerned, that is the responsibility of the player, not the batting coach. Or are we absolving the players of all responsibility for their actions?

I don't think a single player has improved their game at Warwickshire since Gilo and Welch were here. Some have gone backwards. The current set of coaches are failing year after year.

We won the toss!
Thankfully we didn't have to use our bowler of last resort, Roman Walker.
In true Robinson fashion he has packed the batting ranks.

It would be laughable if Roman Walker has to play. There are better bowlers in the Birmingham League.

Robinson and the club stooges are as deluded as ever. So one overseas player was going to change the entire season and win us more than one championship match.
The entire set up is in decline but I don't expect them to acknowledge that.
Hopefully Ian Bell on the review committee can focus a few minds and bring about the change the club desperately needs.

Surely it is better to make the, needed, change now to help end the season on a positive note, and start to repair the toxic workplace culture that exists?

Of the current squad, Ed Barnard seems the obvious choice, burgess and OHD as vice captains would be a good choice.

Nothing Robinson said was convincing, or gave an impression that he even knew what caused the situation, and definately not that he had the answers to turn the situation around.

The phrase "Dead man walking" came to mind.

The head coach does look a dead man walking. In the interview he seemed irked at the suggestion that they were lacking "fight". Call it what you want but they are certainly lacking the minerals to win cricket matches, and that stems from the lack of leadership.
It would be a bold call to strip Davies of the captaincy but I agree that Barnard could at least galvanise the team. Robinson put his neck on the block with his choice of skipper so they both need to go to break us out of this culture of failure.

I'd like Smith to come in to the team along with Mousley and Woakes (if available).
I wouldn't sack Davies as captain until after this game but, as has been said all along, he is not leader in terms of tactics and motivation. We are short of leadership options but Burgess seems a good fit in the short term with OHD vice captain.

Please comment on what he said

Some of the usual excuses about the pitch and conditions but, alas, no positives for once. He just seemed accepting that we were rolled over by better bowlers.
Robinson has nothing more to offer I'm afraid. He needs to go, along with Frost and the bowling coach so that we can build a team with winning mentality.

Over in 4 sessions. A new low.

78 all out is pathetic. Apparently Robinson is due to address the members at lunch on Thursday - perhaps he is hoping the game is finished before then and he can make a quick getaway, or he could do the decent thing and use the opportunity to give his resignation speech.

I'd suggest that Sam takes a total break from cricket for a few months, so his body and mind can be fully rested and repaired for next season.

Perhaps he has reached the stage where he needs a new challenge elsewhere. Going into the same toxic work enviroment everyday would get anyone down.

I wouldn't begrudge Hain going elsewhere for a fresh start. He has single-handedly held our batting together for about three years while surrounded by inconsistency and mediocrity. I've said for some time that our failure year after year to recruit an experienced and reliable middle order batsman takes its toll on the team.

Hardly an upbeat preview here:

Can anyone verify what Robinson said about the loan system only allowing us to bring in a player who has played less than two matches and from another division?

I am confused because Durham have been allowed to bring Emilio Gay in on loan and he has played more than twice for Northants. Or do different rules apply if a club has agreed to sign the player permanently?

Not meaning to disrespect Roman Walker but if that is the best we can do, it is really poor recruitment from a club of our stature.

This game has a real end of season feel about it. Drafting in a reserve bowler from Leicester shows how poorly stocked we are for bowlers.
Robinson talking about taking momentum into the winter is nonsensical. I won't miss his uninspiring leadership.
