"Has anything been said about why Miles is not bowling?"

HE can't bowl, he's keeping wicket :-)

Unless he's given the chance, he like any other young player, will not be able to develop into a regular first team player.

He has actually bowled well at Northampton today, you can actually see him learning and gaining confidence the longer he bowls.

The coaches obviously thought that Jacob Bethell desreved the opportunity to play in the championship game.

Based on red ball performances so far this season, a sensible and logical decision.

Of more concern is why isn't Rob Yates playing in this game? his red ball average of 12.81 suggests he needs time in the middle.

Hose has not shown any form over the last 2-3 seasons in red ball games, that may change, but selecting Benjamin and Bethell ahead of him is the right decision, both have made big scores in 2nd team games this season.
Ideally both Bethell and Benjamin get good cores to ensure at least on of them stays in the first team for the rest of the season.

Great to see Jacob Bethell getting a chance in the championship team.

The clubs preview is here https://edgbaston.com/fixtures/first-xi/nottinghamshire-vs-birmingham-bears-17-june-2022/#match-match-previews

Paul Stirling is missing, for personal reasons, but should be back on Sunday.

The club, and multiple players. including Bresnan, charged with multiple offences.

THe comments from David Willey are also interesting.

It was great to see Davies play a good innings, hopefully he'll continue to move forward and play more good innings.

His average is now above 30, while not great, i is a lot betetr than before.

Updated average for Yates is 12.81, excluding his one good score he is averaging 8.6.
For Davies, the figues are 23.66, and minus top score 18.50

Saqib's brother plays for Attock in the Warwickshire league. I've umpired him several times.

Ed Barnard would be a very good signing.

I have no doubt that if he played for one of the ECB's favoured counties he'd have had many England test and ODI caps by now.

His record, in all forms of the game, is better than many in the England squad

Yates and Davies should have been dropped with Bethell and Mousley as the replacements.

Neither Davies or Yates are performing at the level of a specialist batsman.
We did win the championship last seasn, effectively playing with 10 men, in many games. Perhaps trying to win it with just 9 players is a challenge to far.

live batting averages https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=14444;team=1479;type=tournament

RM Yates 7* 10 0 133 55 13.30 Excluding the highest score of 55, the average is 8.67.

That is not an acceptable level of performance for a specialist batsman.

Yates must be very greatful he signed a multi year contract last season, as the performances this year would not get a new deal.

Real red ball cricket resumes.

Will Stone be condiered fit enough to play a four day game?

Will Yates and Davies, who have been mediocre at best, so far this season in championship cricket be replaced? Bethell and Mousley would be the obvious replacements.

Any other changes to the team?

I did read that Dodgers consistantly win about 66% of their games.

A thread where we can discuss baseball, especially as some of us have visited games on our travels.

That is very true.
Was at a game in San Francisco in April and the locals were great in explaining things, but also interested in how Brits viewed the sport.
A great thing at many clus is allowing kids to "Run the bases" after a game.
At LA Dodgers on a sunday game literally hundreds of kids were allowed to run the bases after the game, in a very organised and safe way.

While there is a massive range of ticket prices, it is possible to get seats with a good view for well under $50

If you can, try to get tickets when the LA Dodgers are playing the Rockies, they are the strongest side and very good to watch.

There is a great family atmosphere, especially at the Sunday afternoon games.

There is a lot cricket could learn in terms of marketing the sport from baseball.

Perhaps we need to have a seperate thread for baseball.
