Looks a bit grey at Edgbaston but hopefully we shall miss the rain.
A pity about losing the tos (again).

Any more making the short trip over from Warwicks?

Not that I know of.

Worcestershire have just announced the signing of Tom Taylor. After losing all those players they definitely needed to replace them. This is the best of the three they have announced so far, a decent bowler and become very handy with the bat over the course of this season.

It's rumoured that there may be a couple or so more signings by Worcestershire in the near future.

Glad to hear that he is still alive, though continuing his battle with cancer.
It's a bit strange that Henry Olonga tweeted about his death and then confirmed that it wasn't true.

I see that Kent have a country membership for those who live over 75 miles from Canterbury. Because I live over 80 miles from Edgbaston, a Warwickshire 75 mile limit would benefit me, though it doesn't seem all that generous.
I recall that there may have been, in the past, not only a country membership but a distant country membership for those living a really long distance away.
Reading Leslie Duckworth's Club history, I see that in 1972, the country membership limit was just 15 miles and a proposal to increase it to 20 miles was defeated. The ordinary membership rate was increased to £7 (!).
Going back still further, Duckworth reveals that in 1959, membership rates had gone up from £2 2s (two pounds and two old shillings) for ordinary members to £3 3s; and for country members from £1 10s to £2 2s. It was pointed out at the members' meeting that members had free admission to Test matches (yes, really!).
I also read with some amusement that, in the debate, there were those arguing for more use of out-grounds!

I agree that Country Membership would be a boon; but no sign of it. I think my Senior membership has gone up by £5, which is pretty good considering the rate of inflation.

Every credit to him - he's resurrected his career and scored three hundreds in the Metro Bank competition.

Blimey, Gloucestershire won quickly...
Yes, I was at Bristol to see Gloucestershire romp home. Ben Wells in particular batted brilliantly; but Durham were very poor. They looked as if they were mentally driving back home up the M5 long before the end.

Hope that helps
Yes, thanks.

I certainly sense your annoyance, which I understand.
As I said, I don't particularly warm to him. I was at the media day in 2022 when he was asked about his historical tweets and he didn't deal with it particularly well. All he needed to say was: "I was very young then. I've grown up a lot since then and changed my views. I regret what I said." in fact, he didn't say any of that, just made some very general and vague remarks.
Anyway, as for Davies as a player, let's see what he achieves in the rest of the season and onwards.

Well I can't comment on whatever inside information you claim to have from the dressing room. But in the Blast, Davies scored more runs than Burgess and, behind the stumps, claimed 9 victims to Burgess's 5; so I think you are being selective in your statistics.
Anyway, I'm happy to leave it at that.

Poor old Davies can't do right for doing wrong. If he's strutting about taking charge of everything, he's bossy and arrogant. If he's more passive, he can't be fussed.
I don't particularly warm to him but to say that he doesn't perform is a bit harsh. He did well both in front of the stumps and behind in the T20 and (I thought) captained pretty well. In the Championship, he's scored a hundred and a fifty.
Let's see what he does tomorrow.

My colleague Graham Smith has done a good summary of the current state of play in the competition:

Interesting article on Sam Hain here, making the case for him playing for England:

One outground where Warwickshire have played is Clifton Park in York. Chris Waters was there yesterday and describes the scene:
"...the venue looked as pretty as a picture, with spectators filling the blue seats of the temporary stand opposite the pavilion and lining the boundary with their deckchairs and picnics."
