Squad announced, still no Lamb, also no Burgess, so Davies keeps his place and keeps.
Jacob Bethel in the squad, hopefully he plays in place of Yates, he couldn't dontribute less.

If Burgess has been dropped that’s absurd. 1 bad game all season. Part of which was an awful decision.

What it also shows is perhaps some of the things we might have attributed to Farbrace like the insistence on playing Davies and dropping Lamb are Robinson decisions.

I would doubt Burgess has been dropped, it must be an injury of sorts. Surely after some of the strangest teams we have seen picked this season, the selection committee cannot surely do something more to piss us all off.

The preview says Burgess is "unavailable".

Says “unavailable”. So you’d assume if injured they’d just say injured. I wonder if it’s just a way to try pretend he hasn’t been dropped.

Lamb and Burgess were a real awkward fact for Robinson this year because it was clear he wanted to play Davies and Bethell, but they outperformed everyone not named Hain. We saw it with Lamb, first bad game and gone. I suspect it’s the same for Burgess. Which if accurate is the worst management style you could have, doesn’t matter how well you do and how many runs you score, the coach will pick someone they like instead even if not as good.

It's a big stretch from "unavailable" to "dropped" so although it may be convenient to use Burgess as another stick with which to beat Mr. Robinson, I would personally doubt that the Club are lying about Burgess. I have no idea why he is unavailable - it may be a family matter and therefore very personal. Maybe the reason will emerge or maybe not.

It would be interesting to know why Yates, who is averaging 11.69 is included in the squad again.

Lamb is just a fly in the ointment. Second highest average but deliberately left out in the cold. Bizarre how players who were the reason we won the championship are being discarded or allowed to leave.
Whilst unproven and non performing players are repeatedly picked and rewarded.

We have to move on from the likes of Matt Lamb. He has done OK, nothing more. He isn't the future of the club... Bethall, Mousley and Yates are.

And do tell me what Bethell, Mousley and Yates are all averaging this year?

The basis of professional sport is that players are paid to perform. Of Lamb and those other 3, only Lamb has so far done that this year. So whilst you keep and persevere with players based on potential, you also have to recognise it is about results and performance. Those 3 may have more natural talent, but if they can’t score more runs than Lamb then it counts for nothing.

I would be very shocked if Burgess has been dropped, much more likely that it is a personal reason as Terry suggests.

Mouseley and Bethell have played a total of 4 championship games, so they haven't had the opportunity to show what they can do.

Yates has played 8 games with an Average of 11.75. I'd suggest that is not an acceptable level of performance for a specialist batsman.

Lamb has an average of 48.7 having scored almost 500 runs from this 8 games.

If that is "not good enough" how would you describe the abysmal perfromances from Yates and Davies?

Has there been some sort of disciplinary issue with Matt Lamb that we don't know about?

That could be a possibility, but very unlikely.

I hope that isn't the case, and it is just a serious error of Judgement by Robinson/Farbrace who continue to play the badly under performing Yates and Davies over one of our best players.

To keep selecting specialist batsmen who are under performing so badly does raise serious questions of the judgement of the selection group.

Unfortunately, you seem to be spot on BB. We've been laying the (bad) selection decisions at Farb's door, but it does look like Robinson's the culprit, now Farbrace will be out of the picture. And the (disaster that is the) Davies recruitment could well have been his choice. That's why I want Robinson nowhere near the DoC job.

It's the Gareth Southgate approach to selection - no matter how bad 'your boys' play, they'll be picked and how well 'the guys you don't like' (probably for some non-sporting reason), they won't get a look in [you know I'm a Leicester fan - and see Matt Lamb as the 'James Maddison of Edgbaston']!

It's an absolute disgrace the way Lamb has been treated. And I'm now certain that Pop Welch left, because of Robinson wanting to interfere with Bowling Coaching.

A lot of us were welcoming Farbrace leaving, it sounds like we were picking the wrong man to blame!

I'd like to see Ashley Giles return to sort out the mess the club is in. He rebuilt the team before after another DoC disaster, Mark Greatbatch wrecked things.

Here's my preview:

I hope the rumour that I just read on Twitter that Siraj has been called up by India is false because it would mess up my preview and the Bears' chances. I'm told that you shouldn't believe everything you read on Twitter, so fingers crossed!

I see Woakes and Stone are both in Pakistan with England. Just got themselves fit to play in the T20! A massive loss for the Bears, particularly Woakes who hasn't played a single game for Warwickshire's first team. Stone hasn't bowled a single ball in red ball cricket either. Norwell is also out of these crucial last two games with an elbow injury. He's barely featured in another injury hit campaign.
