There's a two day friendly on march 25-26 Vs Northampton at Edgbaston listed on https://live.nvplay.com/ecb/?tab=c_matches#c8f6422d9-d87f-4fd9-9084-95f59dc0d112 and a corresponding 2nd XI fixture at Portland road. Behind closed doors?

A good first day.

First wicket falls on the 8th ball of the innings, 6-1, and the second on the last ball of the 7th over, 34-2.

Yet another example of the openers failing and putting presure on the middle order.

For the second game in a row the only dismissal not available as a video clip is Davies, are his dismissals so bad that they have to be censored?

Your commitment to driving this narrative is incredible. Fair play.

I suggest you watch the video, that has now appeared, of Davies's dismissal. It wasn't a good shot, and not appropriate for the situation.

We established at the end of last season that our opening partnership is actually statistically one of the best of any county

Yes, 2nd best after Surrey.

Someone just doesn't like Davies. I'm not convinced by his captaincy yet but his stats last season as a batsman were very decent.

Somebody (can't imagine who it might have been) said last week:
"Sad to say it while still in March, but we do not have a good opening batsmen."
Latest score from match v Northants: Warwickshire 180-0.

One swallow does not make a spring, likewise one innings on a flat strip and short boundaries does not make a the players involved a quality opening partnership!

Did the square get renewed pre season? Hope it’s not going to be slow and dead again.

I don't think the club have said anything about relaying wickets, which mean part of the square would be out of use for the season.

It takes about a year for the ground to settle and be prepared to use as a wicket, even at club level.

Don't want the pitch to offer nothing however I'd certainly be happy with a batsman friendly pitch to build some confidence for the season
