@Rayb asked if Davies was on the pitch at the time of the injury, the comentators hadn't mentioned him going off, or a sub coming on, before the injury.
Therefore it was a valid point to raise about the lack of concern shown.
You would expect a, good captain (leader) to show some concern when a key member of his team became injured.
That applies to any workplace, not just the cricket field.

Decent fightback here but almost certainly going to be batting again either the fag end of today or/and 10.30 in the morning.

Yes, looks like 2 days in a row batting at 10.30, but symptomatic of the last 40+ years of poor over rates where the authorities feel we have to start at this time, just to get a days play in. I hope the side do not feel they are in a 'Cannot get relegated because....' situation. Lancashire are right back in their game so even if we lose and they win, there is still the possibility that if we have another bad first day in the next game, we could be left hoping Lancashire do not win with a good amount of bonus points. We all on here, appear to just want the season over and done with and the most annoying thing is lack of facing up to anything, the elimination again in the T20 Q-F, injury (Is it player age or just because they are pace bowlers) to players and lack of a decent and consistent overseas player. We know the days of Donald, Lara, Patel are probably over but other counties have got players somehow, who do a job for them. We might even struggle to recruit if a player looks at our situation and sees a team in decline, hardly a basis for wanting to join.

I think you don't quite understand my post. Nowhere on here have I said that anyone is "...Accepting of the current situation...", what I have said is that I think many want the season over because they DO NOT ACCEPT THE SITUATION AND ARE FED UP WITH WHAT HAS HAPPENED THIS SEASON. Also I pointed out what so many have been saying about poor choices of overseas players and not facing up to being knocked out of the T20 which are down to management. Not sure how you managed to interpret what I posted as completely the opposite.

Up to each individual. Personally I'd say if you're talking about whether x doesn't get on with y and you don't 100% know the truth (none of us can be on top of every dressing room discussion) then I'd call it gossip.

Tragically that's probably more entertaining than what happened today, couldn't even get Somerset to put away Lancashire. Paul mentioned that the end of the season couldn't come soon enough, I kind of agree with a slight exception - they can still finish by playing a bit better. Robinson's "Take momentum into the off season" was pure bad management speak but I know what he's getting at. Let's not approach off season business on the back foot.

I'd honestly give speculating about relationships in the squad a miss. We'll never know the true situation. We don't know whether it is disharmonious, toxic or anything else. In any other working environment it would be and should be here, confidential. All we do here by speculating on it is gossip.

I thought that is what sports forums are for? In addition there seems to be sufficient evidence to suggest that it’s way beyond gossip. It’s not gossip that’s doing for Hain, Yates, etc

We’ve seemingly approached the rest of the season on the back foot, why change now.
And to be very cynical, Robinson won’t want the season ending poorly because his job might depend on where we finish in the championship table.

Embarrassing last wicket partnership so far!!!!

Cunning ploy to not have to bat too early this morning. Going to have to go big now. Plenty of time left!

That looked way too familiar. Being unable to finish off teams.

Also, staggering tactical naivety. Field settings made no sense, I understand in theory with no Rushworth, you want to ensure OHD is good to go for the new ball. But it’s 1 wicket needed, a 10:30 start, 20 overs until the new ball, give OHD a proper go at it in conditions suited to him.
Once again, we just let it drift. And a poor start to the batting too.

Poor is an understatement.

3 for 4 is actually hilariously bad, especially with Snater biffing it around first thing.

Can Essex claim the extra half hour to finish the game before lunch?

Well this has been pathetic

Season can't end soon enough. Definitely need an upheaval in the management with few changes to the playing squad.

Can't wait to see Robinson & Davies 'accentuate the positives' on this performance!

A performance to encapsulate a season. Major changes needed throughout the structure as far as I am concerned.

Completely agree with you AJ, Robinson has to go to start with - if Larsen has got the balls to sack the man who was on the panel appointing him (!), if not the Management Committee have to act. Once we get a new Head Coach (Trotty - if he can leave Afghanistan ?!), he needs to look at all support Coaches, with Frost first. Then the playing squad (a major overhaul, depending on contracts), then the Captain, then the recruitment policy (Overseas and home based) ....... ! A long and difficult process, but it has to start now.

100% we need top quality coaching
.I'm sure Frost is a nice bloke but our batting has been very average for years now
