1) he's signed a legally binding contract with Durham
2) For various reasons he's decided his future will be better away from Warwickshire.

The time for persuading him to stay was before he signed for Durham. My understanding was that he wanted to play T20 cricket and Warwickshire won't select him in the T20 side.
I suppose that he could, in theory, change his mind in that his Durham contract, though theoretically binding, would be difficult to enforce if he decided not to honour it. I think that Chris Wright signed with Sussex last year then changed his mind and stuck with Leicestershire. But that was all tangled up with his drug test problems.

My comment was really with a bit of my tongue in cheek - he has put some good performances in this season and it will be a shame to see him go.

I think we would all say that he was discarded very quickly from the T20 side a few seasons ago for no particular reason seeing as he can bowl as well but with a lot of our success in T20 in the last 2 seasons being with playing a few spinners, he wasn't really allowed to fit in but if you consider the 'Benjamin-why-not-Burgess' scenario, the management thinking hasn't always been very wise anyway.

Are we going to regret not playing a specialist spinner, at this stage of the season, I bet not many teams have done the same as we have.

With Danny Brigs losing form, do we have a suitable "specialist spinner? Taz Ali is not ready for a four day game, and Lintott has never impressed when he played red ball games before.

While he is young, and inexperienced, Jacob Bethall is the best option as a spinner right now.

Well they don't like being given out! LBW was plumb on the leg stump and Finch certainly felt it didn't hit his bat.

The Finch one looked bad but in real time, what is an umpire supposed to do, it looked like it came off his bat, the fielders all went up in unison and I think most umpires would have given that, no DRS in the CC. The Bell-Drummond one I think was out, I have played it back a few times and as a bowler, you would want that. It pitched in line, it was no way pitching outside leg and not as bad as some I have seen us get at The Oval. We have had some crap luck this season with call-ups from the Hundread and we have more bonus points than anyone which suggests we have not really been outplayed by other sides but as has been said, pitches have not deteriorated that much and so the Essex and Somerset games, we had to have a 4th innings to bowl at if we want to win games and it was just a case of 'Good batting pitch, good batting conditions' and we might have done the same if we had chased.

These sort of dismissals do tend to even out over a season for teams, if not for players.
I can think of about 5 or 6 vs Surrey in the last 2 years that have gone badly against us.
Burgess got one last week against Somerset where he seemed nowhere near it.
It hurts for Kent because of the position they’re in, but if they lose this match it won’t be the decisions but rather their first innings they’ll look back on and blame.

If it weren't for the seemingly flat pitch and awful kookaburra ball you would think that Warks would have this game wrapped up today. I'm still confident of a win but it might take both days to get there. We're only half way through this round of games and there's already been 14 hundreds scored with - I think 3 of them being double tons.
The lads are going to have to be patient and take the chances when they come, the new ball will be available just after lunch and that could be crucial.

Everything is about the result this match. We simply have to get it done whatever it takes.

I am confidant that we will get the win. I think even just 2 wickets this morning will still see Kent about level and I do not think their tail is that inspiring.

The good news is that Worcestershire, Lancashire and Notts don't look like they have any chance of winning their games.

OHD, once more, is our hero - currently, all 6 wickets, for 38 off 17 overs! What a guy!
