I've come to the opinion that Miles has very little control over where he is bowling.
I don't think he is meaning to bowl half trackers or down the leg side - he just isn't able to consistently bowl a good line/length.
Edit - which could possibly be improved with different coaching looking into his action/runup
He just cannot bowl 6 serviceable deliveries consecutively. Always be a 4 ball, you see in 4day cricket captains can't really set fields for him.
He does bowl the odd jaffa where he gets one to lift or nip off the surface.
Good call. Miles is as consistently bad as Brookes, just without the hype. (Footnote: H Brookes got his brother E Brookes out at New Road earlier).
Hopefully that last over from Miles and his general lack of accuracy doesn't cost us the game. At an economy rate at 8.25 he was by far our worst performer with the ball today.

Yates out, not a good decision from the trajectory of the ball, looked like it would miss by a few inches. Umpire took ages which meant he wasn't that sure it would have hit.
Quite why he was trying to sweep a ball that full I'll never know...anyway poor decision, I'm not sure Westley could believe it either.
It was the correct decision, pitched inline, contact was with back leg and inline. Yates had not advanced down the wicket, so the correct call by the umpire.
There are umpires who would be reporting Yates for dissent after his reaction.
Matter of opinion but I think it was missing having looked at it again a few times. From where it would have got to after the pads, I reckon missing.
Westley has released that ball from pretty wide on the crease too, would have almost certainly been sliding down. Still don't think the shot was on.
Anyway, remarkable how Barnard seems to have carried on from last year's ODC.

The performance of Ed Barnard makes his consistent ommission from the T20 team all the more unfathamable. I can only assume that Benjamin kept his place as back-up wicketkeeper to Davies, who was carrying an injury towards the end of the group matches, but otherwise it would have made no sense at all to select him over Barnard.
Going off-piste slightly, I have read a couple of articles suggesting that Will Rhodes is moving back to Yorkshire next season. I do hope that doesn't happen - he always strikes me as someone who gives 100% and is someone else I don't feel he's been particularly well treated by Mark Robinson, particularly since he resigned as Captain.
Barnard would be one of my first names on the team sheet in all forms of the game.
Ed Barnard carries his bat for 173 not out, a captains knock and the first win on the board.

Tremendous win. I never gave us a chance at half time. Good to see the senior players doing the heavy lifting. Good time to have played Essex as you feel they could chin a few sides when they reintroduce Harmer and Snater.
Terrific batting from Ed Barnard. He's a class act, great signing.
A very enjoyable day. This is a local match for me so always nice to beat Essex. I was very impressed with how patient we were when the runnrate was steadily increasing mid innings. It was concerning to watch but the batsmen knew exactly how to play it.
Great win. That was our highest List A run chase.

We have got a good chance in this competition.
The Barnard & Burgess partnership is a very strong 1 for us. Seen it a few times in the championship, now in the 50 over.
If only we could get to see it in T20.

Exactly, it's frankly hard to understand why they are not regulars in T20. I just can't fathom out why Benjamin is preferred to Burgess as a wicket-keeper in T20, it's a nonsense. Hopefully, both Barnard & Burgess will be selected (if fit) for the quarter-finals in September - they both deserve to be involved.
