No excuses, beaten in 4 and a bit sessions, while amassing less than 200 runs in two innings, is not acceptable.
For Gods sake, will someone on high take a long look at recruitment, retention, coaching, captaincy and management. If there is room for improvement in any of those aspects please, please someone DO SOMETHING, the Membership are at best frustrated, but sometimes you do get the impression that on the field performances are not the "corporate" prime motivating factor.

Absolutely pathetic, for four and a bit sessions, over two embarrassing, abysmal days.

No excuses, time for serious reflection.

We have just not been good enough for most of the season, if not all, recruitment and retention is most concerning, yet again our overseas players have just not contributed enough. Our regular capitulation in limited over quarter finals after storming the group, speaks volumes, not to have reached finals day for years in an appalling indictment. Other counties with less resources and less of an attraction, seem to be able to recruit players from not only this country, but world wide .......... but our recruitment is abysmal and we are now losing another very good player to Durham, with a fast bowler we "nursed" for a few years, now taking wickets for England. Something a drastically wrong somewhere. IF we bowl Essex out for a low score, that will only paper over the cracks and it cannot continue, we will stay up because three other counties are also nowhere near good enough.

Sorry, you can blame losing the toss, blame early start, blame the ball, blame the weather, blame end of a long season, blame whatever you like ......... this morning's effort ! was simply not good enough. I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories or community intelligence (gossip), but this has been a very poor season and something is just not right.

Maybe he was carrying a back injury at that time, which was limiting his playing time and not just treated poorly, when fit he always looked a great asset.

The ideal time to use a ground in the county is just before and during a test match when Edgbaston can't be used anyway.

I was a Country Member for years, living in Nuneaton, whatever happened to those? Being in exile, where I am lucky is the brilliant "live streaming", which being retired allows me to watch matches from afar, the commentary and camera work is excellent, credit to all involved. But there is no substitute for a day (or Sunday 40 over afternoon) watching my beloved Warwickshire (not Birmingham Bears or Phoenix), sitting in the sunshine at Edgbaston or one of the long forgotten outgrounds, eating soggy sandwiches, bottle of "pop", players in pristine white, red ball (the crimson rambler), with a scorecard updated by the club during the day. Ah, the memories and at least the vintage scoreboard still survives, I need to make the 165 mile each way pilgrimage again soon, maybe September.

I too am Nuneaton born and bred, with my first love of Cricket and Warwickshire starting in 1960, when as schoolboy I saw the County playing at Griff and Coton, which they did regularly those days. The flame ignited all those years years ago, for both the game and Warwickshire still burns as brightly 64 years later, a lifetime of enjoyment, in good times and bad, all because of games played at outgrounds. Griff and Coton, Coventry Courtaulds, Cov and North Warwick, Stratford and others, I even watched them play on two different grounds in Hinckley against Leicestershire. But the game these days is dictated and dominated by money, it is a different world in 2024 and the game itself has changed dramatically ......... although I firmly believe I very much saw the best times, but doesn't every generation, despite or maybe because, there was no 100 or even T20. I hope, but doubt, the success of Rugby School over the last couple of weeks will lead to the odd game played "in the sticks", how about a good old fashioned Rugby School Festival, although I do realise I am dreaming.

It would help his cause if they were not called Birmingham Bears, as a Warwickshire supporter from Nuneaton, now exiled on the South Coast and also a Villa fan I do not warm to Birmingham Bears ........... sorry.

Pathetic really does sum it up, other than that I am lost for words, which is a rarity.

Yes Weddington Road did host first class cricket, about 110 years ago so hardly relevent to a discussion of viable sites to use now.

Without a significant commercial sponsor, ideally with a multi year contractual commitment, there is not a viable option for using an outground in the county.
I saw Tom Cartwright score 210 at Griff and Coton Nuneaton, plus a host of world class players there over the years, good crowds with plenty of parking and passable refreshment facilities. Also saw Warwickshire Seconds play at Weddington Road, Nuneaton. Of course the real answer is "where there is a will there is a way", might take a bit of effort and work, but it would reap rewards.

As a young family man living in Nuneaton, 20 plus miles away, who was counting the pennies, Country Membership kept me on board, took my three boys as well when they were older. Warwickshire is a big county with large following for WCCC in: Nuneaton, Coventry, Rugby, Warwick, Leamington and many others, even Tamworth and Lichfield in Staffs. Look after the members and long term they will look after you, the out ground games and Country Membership are short-sighted relics of the past, it is 2023 and it's called progress. What is progress and first class is live streaming, I thank all involved, but it isn't the same as actual live cricket.

In 1960 when age 12 living in Nuneaton, I strolled to Griff and Coton to watch Warwickshire in my first County Championship game, being immediately hooked. Games at Coventry Courtaulds, many others at Griff and then schoolboy visits to what became my temple, Edgbaston. I was a Member for years until moving to the South Coast and now follow every ball, either by the excellent live stream or on ESPN Crickinfo. A lifetime of enjoyment (mostly) and I am a proud Warwickshire man in Hampshire, who refuses all offers of going to the soulless Rose Bowl. When living in Nuneaton 20 miles from Edgbaston, without out ground cricket it is unlikely I would ever have caught the Bears Bug, I even had Country Membership which no longer exists and there was always a huge following in Nuneaton. No out ground matches and this following cannot be nurtured, a following which take it from me lasts a lifetime,

I am now finally, officially and unusually totally lost for words, well almost! .......... their PR is abysmal, for God's sake just tell us what is going on, I just think they have all given up and can't wait for the season to end, which is quite a co-incidence so do I.

I just wish I didn't care, but I have done since 1961 and care just as much in 2022 as I did then, too old to grow out of it. Sadly, I am not convinced all of those departing at the end of the season or even some who remain, care half as much.

Team selection in all forms of the game have been quite simply baffling this season, not sure who does it or how (there have been particular favourites and some players not given a fair chance), but we have by no means got the best out of our squad of players throughout the season ......... in red or white ball cricket. I don't think anyone can understand the way Lamb has been treated or what happened to Burgess, who was "unavailable" for the most crucial game of the season, with no explanation. I have supported WWCC since 1961 when I first watched them at Nuneaton and Coventry Courtaulds, so I will dust myself off and go again next season, I just hope the coaching and playing staff do as well. ........... This whole season has left me a constantly PUZZLED "mushroom".

The side from 2016-17 were full of 'Great' Warwickshire players and still we struggled during that period.
