Has anyone been to the ground? I live in Digbeth and it hasn't rained here since the scheduled start time

I'd bring in Lamb for Bethell and Burgess for Yates.

As poor as Davies has been the rest of the season, he has to stay in the side for his knock in the second innings.

Assuming Siraj won't be available again, I would bring Johal in on the basis Sidebottom and Garrett are both out of contract, and neither should be renewed imo, so may as well give the lad who will be here next year a game.

30-4. If there was ever a start needed to win this game, that was it!

We've batted poorly but there have been some shockers from the umpires here.

  • Yadav didn't look to have hit it
  • Davies was either outside the line if it hit leg (boot) first or hit it first
  • Brookes was nowhere near that one and umpire took ages

Think there was another one someone was unhappy with as well

This could all be completely academic couldn't it?

If one of us and Gloucestershire (or even both but unlikely) stay up, they will finish 7th or 8th - which would then mean not finishing in the top 6 and presumably not being in Strauss's 'elite division'

Yeah, not a good look.

Poor performance overall this season and potentially less cricket next season. Should not equal a price increase imo.

Edit - The Gloucestershire commentator just said, under the new proposal there is potential for the number of days home cricket to be reduced from 39 to 25

The game could be over tonight at this rate!

Davies and Yates both playing shots as well. You would be surprised if this ends well for either of them

Not only has Davies massively underperformed with the bat, I don't think he's a very good keeper.

Two unnecessary byes there, and a generally under-par performance in this game.

Having watched him in the flesh in the Blast, I also think he stands too far back, which suggests he doesn't have the ability or confidence in his own ability.

I would be absolutely fuming if a Warwickshire batsman played that shot, brainless from Hammond. Great for us

That's the first really strong session we've had in a long time!

If the pitch is turning now you would imagine it's only going to take more turn - Briggs and Yadav to win it for us in the fourth innings

We are, in all likelihood, going to end up with the lowest batting bonus points in the division - tells its own story

He signed a three year deal at the end of last year didn't he, so I would doubt he's going anywhere permanently

With the Yadav one, the commentator on YouTube said he was looking at Hain in disbelief.

To me it seemed as though Yadav was giving the umpire the stare and absolutely thought he wasn't out.

From the stream could not tell either way the stumps and crease were both out of shot at the ball the hit the stumps.

Not after those two wickets.

Burgess looked incredibly disappointed with that decision, clearly indicating he felt he got bat on it. The BBC Somerset commentator still decided to comment that it looked a "very straightforward decision for the umpire".

So is it the case that the top team goes straight to the semi final, and 2nd and 3rd play a quarter final? If this is the case we need to win and hope Leicester fail to win, and there is a winner of the Middlesex/Sussex game.

Assuming we win and there is a winner of the Middlexex/Sussex game, then all the Leicester result does is determine whether we play the QF at home or away? We qualify regardless I think.

Someone at the ground today said Burgess could be out for the season. Very anecdotal though so not sure how true.

No idea on Pandya

It's great to win with a 16, 16 and 17 year old.

Bowling was better but Garrett is still a major concern - I just don't think he's good enough, and sadly his fielding isn't up to much.

Hamza Sheikh had a great little knock though, and the catch was very good - was he definitely in play though?

Re Durham - they only have three players (maybe four) in the hundred by my reckoning, three playing for England, and are still that poor. Feel sorry for them.

Johal must be leaving, to not get in the team when the bowling has been so poor in the last couple of games.

I also wouldn't make the wholesale changes that have been suggested but my main concern is the same as yours Highveld, the bowling coaching - made especially more concerning when both H Brookes and Miles have had decent showings in the Hundred...

The scores we've conceded in this comp so far are:
264 v Gloucestershire
293 v Surrey
306 v Sussex
338 v Leicestershire
257 v Nottinghamshire in 34 over game
374 v Middlesex

That's too many runs for my liking. The T20 campaign was referenced above as well but that was built on batting not bowling.

My changes for next season would be:

  • Shake up of bowling coaching
  • Not automatically starting Davies in all formats when available
  • Give young players more opportunity (sort of links in with above)
  • Different approach with overseas players
  • Change T20 name back to Warwickshire Bears
