Graham Thorpe says that he thinks The Hundred will help England's Test match batsmen??!!

Either he is delusional or he thinks we are all stupid - or maybe he's just remembering who pays his wages.

Malan so far has been a big let down. His career credentials are impeccable - a first class average of 44, list A average of 45 and T20 average of just over 40. For Western Province, he has a first-class average of almost 60.
None of which explains why he has to date failed spectacularly for the Bears.
My hope (and guess) is that it is only a matter of time before his quality shines through and he makes a few big scores.

Chris Woakes showing how much the Bears have missed both his batting and his bowling.

A very patchy fielding display by the Bears. Mis-fields and dropped catches.

Odd fact - there are more Bears players in the team who were born on the Isle of Wight than born in Birmingham/Warwickshire.

Good start and a much more balanced commentary.

When the squad was announced, there was something said along the lines that he had only just started playing and bowling again so wasn't included. In other words, he wasn't going to play because he hasn't been playing. I have no inside knowledge at all but I can't help thinking that there is more to it than that.

It's pretty obvious where the commentators are from. As they say, you can always tell a Yorkshireman - but you can't tell him much.
But on a posiive note, good that Tim Bresnan got rounds of applause when he came in and when he was out.

Annoying when the sound wasn't working but even more annoying now that it is.

I see that Chris Woakes is in the squad! I hope he can find where he left his boots.

We think it's all over......it is now!
Excellent win.

There are quite a few items of interest in the minutes of the Community Liaison Group, including car parking plans and the non-progress on the hotel building:

The Club is looking for people to put themselves forward for the Members' Committee:

I am too old, too white, too male and live too far away. But I do think that it would be great if those amongst us who have the interests of the Club and its supporters/members at heart did come forward. We are all critical of the Club when we think they have got it wrong. So here is an opportunity to put in some time and effort to try to make a difference.
I greatly respect the fact that Marina, who used to post occasionally on the old Bearsfans board, did volunteer; and I take as sincere her comments that her views have been heard.

Collins Obuya had a good, and long career with the Kenya side, becoming captain towards the end of his career.
He is a long way from been Warwickshires worst ever overseas player.

If we are judging by overall records, both Vihari and Malan could be seen as good choices as overseas players. It's just that they haven't delivered for Warwickshire (so far, in the case of Malan).

Bring back Vihari 😉 😜

I believe Collins Obuya is available.

Unchanged 11 and we have lost the toss and are batting. Interesting that our 12th man is listed as J Couhglin, once of Durham I believe. I don't think he's played any second team games for us so not sure what the story is there.

If it is ex-Durham player Josh Coughlin as 12th man, that does seem a bit strange. He's not going to get a playing contract by acting as a glorified waiter and man-servant, which seems to be the 12th man role these days. He may perhaps get the chance to do a bit of fielding so possibly he's seen as Warwickshire's answer to Gary Pratt (remember him?).
