Anyone know much about Ali?
Hassan for Brookes the only change? Win this and we must be almost guaranteed qualification and a home quarter final
14 man squad:
Davies (c)
Benjamin
Briggs
Ali
Brookes
Bethell
Barnard
Hain
Lintott

Brookes, Bethell and Mousley to miss out? Or do we Brookes to be a fifth seamer, or the fourth in place of Miles?
A few rule changes for the new season:
Batting bonus points will now be scored at 250, 300, 350, 400 and 450 in the first 110 overs (no change to bowling points)
A draw will go back to being worth 5 points rather than 8
A kookaburra ball will be used in two rounds of matches
I think changing the points for a draw makes sense. I don’t think we’ll benefit much from the batting points change if previous seasons are anything to go by!!
Squad:
Carlos Brathwaite (C)
Chris Benjamin
Jacob Bethell
Danny Briggs
Henry Brookes
Alex Davies (WK)
Sam Hain
Adam Hose
Jake Lintott
Dan Mousley
Craig Miles
Will Rhodes
Olly Stone
Rob Yates
Stirling misses out due to Ireland commitments.
In order to stop spam postings (which seem to have increased in number lately), I've decided to disable new registrations on the forum for the time being.
Therefore if you aren't a member of the forum but would like to be, just send a brief email to bearsfans@bev.name and I will re-enable registrations until you are signed up.
Hopefully I'll be able to find a more permanent solution at some point, but this should at least stop the spam in the meantime.
Thanks for your patience,
Jon
Has signed for the Blast. He's available for the first 12 games in the group stage, and maybe finals day

Good signing!
Apologies for the recent downtime, this was caused by my recent upgrading of the forum software. The upgrade itself was successful (you might notice that the forum looks a little different now) but something in the background was broken in the process. I've implemented a temporary fix and will try and work on something permanent in the next couple of days, but be aware that the forum may be unavailable at times during this period.
Apologies for the spate of spammers over the last day or so. If it continues then I'll try to work out a permanent solution to stop it. I'm going to disable the forum overnight to prevent a flood of spam signups while I'm not able to delete them - sorry for the disruption!
No squad announced for this yet, but in the interview with Briggs on the website it says that Briggs, Brathwaite and Mayers are available, with Woakes available for Sunday's game. We must win both to stand a chance of qualifying!
My friend Annie is the editor of County Cricket Matters magazine, which aims to champion, promote and help protect county cricket. This season they've been doing a podcast for each round of the county championship which consists of a summary of the matches in each group, and they also have a guest or two from a featured county. This week was Warwickshire's turn, and the guests were Gladstone Small and Paul Smith.
You can listen to the podcast here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1673419
I'd also recommend subscribing to County Cricket Matters magazine as well - details here: https://www.countycricketmatters.com/
I've been wondering about how the allocated seating is going to work this season. I guess the club are assuming that there will be some level of restrictions on numbers for part or possibly all of this season, hence the need to allocate seats for matches, which is fair enough. Allocated seating isn't a problem for international matches, as you know that the pitch will always be near the middle of the square. However, for county matches, the pitch can often be quite far over to one side or the other, so certain stands can sometimes be a long way from the pitch, in which case you'd choose where to sit accordingly. I'm not really sure what the club can do about this, unless they try and keep the pitches as close to the middle as possible, but I can see it being quite annoying arriving at the ground to find that your allocated seat is miles from the pitch. I guess if restrictons are lifted then moving around the ground may be possible, as in pre-Covid times, but I'm not sure what could be done otherwise?
The Telegraph are reporting that we are in discussions with Pujara about signing as our overseas player for the County Championship:
Great news that OHD has signed a two year contract extension!

Welcome to the new Warwickshire CCC fans forum! When the old forum disappeared rather suddenly last year, I soon found myself missing the discussion of all things Warwickshire County Cricket Club, particularly given the lack of cricket through the summer. I decided to try and get a new forum up and running, and, with the help of Terry, have eventually got round to sorting it out. Please let me know if you find any bugs, or have any suggestions for improvements.
Feel free to use this thread to introduce yourself, if you so wish. Otherwise, enjoy the new forum!
