Read that last night, thought it was harsh.
Fantastic win. Great character and heart, we hung on in there, took the game deep and Leicestershire wilted. Fantastic innings, match winning innings, from Matt Lamb, he took charge there and played the spin well. Enterprising little innings from E. Brookes too, that 6 over extra cover had to be seen to be believed.
Rhodes bowled 10 overs unchanged right through til the death, think the others were inspired by it and went with him.
They will take so much from today. So much belief.
Brilliant innings from Lamb particularly when you consider wickets fell all around him early on.
Same squad
We're off the mark.
Same team?
Yes they all bowled well in tandem.
We've used 27 overs of spin.
Might come in for Kiel vV?
Yes there was more to the Keith Barker situation than met the eye so to speak. Moving on...
Back at it tomorrow. Same XI? Weather worries?
Hain was a 'Wildcard' pick for the Hundred. I note he's not even featured for his Hundred ball team yet which just adds to the frustration.
Yes at the time I thought it was clean. That still shot of him on the rope is damning though. The match turned on that.
I think until we can get a couple of our injured guys back (Mousley must be close? He helps) we're just gonna have to put this down to experience. Very strong Notts team today even with the players they have missing due to the Blundred.
Yates excellent, he always looks booked in. Rhodes (straight) and Lamb (over extra cover) played some pleasing strokes. Johal showed some promise with the ball. Rhodes got his yorker in at the death.
What did we think to Slaters catch for Rhodes dismissal?!
Everyone's been OK apart from Sidey so far. Impressed with Johal, he looked threatening and pacy.
Good read that, thanks for linking. He should probably go down the route of being a T20 specialist and try and get into one or two of the franchise leagues this winter. Reading that back I'm probably talking as though it's trivial and easy but as the man himself points out in the article wrist spin has become a desired art form again.
Remarkable story, the odds were so heavily stacked against him. I admit if I was a coach/scout I'd have looked at a left arm wrist spinner in his mid to late 20's and thought 'na' but he's broke that barrier down.
Respect.
Yates, Rhodes and Miles back? Might need to get a Miles a rest?
Great effort from such a young and inexperienced side. Bit of a heartbreaker in the end. Impressed with the spin of Bethell and Lamb, Sidebottom showed great heart, Johal and Brookes looked competitive.
And Rhodes, Yates and Miles being away at that county select XI v India game.
I think this is our strongest available XI all things considered factoring in the Hundred and injuries.
We do have an unusual amount of injuries.
Not a great start, Pollock flashing to point and Lamb playing totally down the wrong line to a straight one.
