Felt sorry for Woakes, Wood and Robinson. They bowled well, impossible to cover how bad Leach and Stokes were though. And as for the fielding...
I've always felt Leach has been a tad overrated. Not a bad bowler as such but I do tend to think he relies on batsmen making mistakes against him as opposed to him actually getting them out. And it's not the first time he's been utterly pumped.
The exact same role he had with us, no?
I'd rather we backed our own.
What's going on? It's a bit quiet...
Very proud of Recordo Gordon for standing up for himself as a young man. He articulates himself excellently in this piece.
He was a good player too, I know there were questions over his action but I remember at the time remarking that he'd been unlucky to be released. Was terrific across 2014 and 2015.
Dan, has just made his maiden List A ton out in Sri Lanka. 105 off 94 balls, 8 fours and 5 sixes.
Any news on this yet?
I felt the club were a bit hasty in releasing that statement this afternoon. And after reading through Azeem Rafiq witness statement I think they need to rethink how they move forward with this.
He was away on holiday for the game v Somerset but was back for the game at Lords.
I'm completely out of my depth here as I stopped going to the internationals years ago but for what it's worth I think this fixture change is poor, you buy tickets for a game at the August Bank Holiday and find out its actually for first week of July against entirely different oppo. Disgraceful really.
Hi, Oddsox, welcome.
Any more renewals or releases? Its been a little quiet apart from Briggs renewal.
He would have been ideal, genuine pace and can get the old ball reversing too.
I believe we'll struggle to get someone quality to be available for all formats all season. Happy to be proved wrong though.
I'm gonna wait for a bit more info to be released.
Off the top of my head...
Yates
Norwell
So many contenders for fielder we've improved so much. Miles?
So many. Somerset at home.
Overseas signings in red ball
Spectators being allowed back in.
Two trophies in 2 Fridays.
We'll have Sibley, Yates, Rhodes, Hain, Lamb, Davies, Mousley and Benjamin fighting over 5 or 6 places next year. Bethell could challenge though he may not be ready for top 5 or 6 batting spot in red ball just yet. Hose you'd think is way down on the pecking order.
This is all good though, its good competition for places. You can make a good case for each of the batters.
I said it a couple of weeks ago, I'm not sure Davies walks into this 4day side. At the time of him signing he probably did. Things have changed a little since then though. He may well come in pre season and light it up and get in, fair enough. He'll have to earn his spot though.
I wonder where the MCC v Champion County match will be next year? And when we'll find out...
Agreed, we've got loads of batters.
