Happy opening day of cricket season everyone enjoy. I think the green-ness of this Warwickshire team could be a good thing long term. Two years or so ago Sussex were basically a bunch of students. I think they'll be stout opponents this season

Come on You Bears! A coach we can all get behind and the beginnings of a new team. Welcome to the new cricket season...

Won the toss and fielding.

1030 starts really are ridiculous!

And it’s obviously too early in the year to be playing cricket!

It's 11am isn't it? Surprised we are fielding but I'm not there to see conditions. Not sure about the batting below number 7 either.

Wow! Taz Ali is a big call. I hope it works out (and that someone has got him a supply of hand-warmers).

Great opening bowling by Bamber, we need the other seamers to back him up now.

Good to see the likes of Shaikh, Smith & Taz Ali in today, good luck to all of them.

A terrible shot by Coles, but well done to young Taz Ali. Another couple of wickets before tea will do nicely.

Must feel like a home game for Sussex. We don't normally get weather like this in the Midlands unless it's just a bit too hot (say in mid June) but with the breeze this is gorgeous

Bat first pitch for sure

A dry sunny day, why elect to bowl first? The bowling attack looks weak. Bamber looks the best. No OHD, Rushworth, Woakes, Bethell and where is Hassan Ali?

Why did we bowl first, our strength in this game has to be the batting?

Well that was underwhelming! Bamber apart our bowling attack was pretty poor today, especially Fernando & Booth. When they came back on in those last few overs they both looked as if they would rather be anywhere else than bowling for us. It looked like they were bowling in the last game of the season rather than the first. Even if you're not bowling well, at least show a bit of determination & desire, look as if you want to do your best for your team. Barnard didn't bowl particularly well today but at least he shows some effort and desire, as he always does.

Westwood clearly has a lot to sort out on the bowling front, lets hope our batting is up to scratch tomorrow.

Yeah the lack of quality on paper showed in reality today. Really missed OHD today. We have to hope the Batsman put in a shift when it's their turn

We've lost Rhodes, Burgess, Benjamin, Norwell, Bethall (to a certain point) off the wages

I see short term investment in overseas players but we're putting a lot of faith in the youngsters

Is this the 6th or 7th season of transition?!

Very disappointing to say the least. An obvious 'Bat First' pitch even at 40-3 and you could tell by the way that Sussex batted after those 3 wickets, that they knew there were runs to be made and they didn't go 'Into their Shell'. Their batsmen played themselves in and then plundered. Like the previous 3 seasons, our fast-medium bowling is very samey and Fernando looks ordinary despite having played Test cricket. With Rushworth, Woakes, OHD and Hasan Ali in the side, it could have been different but not sure how much we will see of Woakes and you get the feeling that Hasan might be called up by Pakistan to carry the drinks again, at any time. Not a good start and unless something extraordinary happens, this game looks like we could be facing 500 but if we can get out of it with a draw and some bonus points, that would be better than a really soul-destroying defeat first game. We should be able to make runs on this, we'll see.
