There is lots of cricket to watch in addition to the RL cup.
There is a full program of games in the NCCA competiton, mainly played on good quality club grounds, as well as highly competitive cricket every Saturday in the local county leagues, and the Birmingham league, you just have to look out to find the details.

I didn't mind the 100 last season. It was very popular, particularly with people who wouldn't go to a red ball county game, so that's a good thing. It's also raised the profile of women's cricket; also a good thing. The point though is that it just isn't required. It's essentially a carbon copy of a tournament we already have.
Yes I agree with that. Unlike some people I don't object to The Hundred as such. If that's the best short form competition to appeal to new cricket supporters let's go with it. But I don't think you can cut a chunk out of the season to play T20 and another for The Hundred. Either drop one completely or play both at the same time.

You could make a sensible schedule out of one red ball and one white ball competition. Three limited overs competitions is just insane. Counties are effectively trying to fund three squads: CC, Blast and RLODC as the main players from the Blast get drafted to the Hundred. Surely that is not sustainable - but maybe that's the ECB's plan....
The one that should go is obviously the 100 because no-one else plays it. I know the ECB want to own the rights to a new form of the game but until such time as other countries want to 'buy' the format it's a dead end. But it's the one the ECB have thrown bucketloads of money at so they can't allow it to fail. Which means they ditch the RLODC (which is the basis for ODIs, which we're world champions at) or the T20 Blast (which is the most popular form of the game around the world) or county cricket (which people don't attend in anywhere near the same numbers as the other three formats, but is the training ground for Tests which is more or less the most popular format in England). There's some talk about bilateral ODIs disappearing, leaving only the WC in that format, which would mean the RLODC could go.
Coolerking - very neat summing up of the mess domestic cricket is in. I cannot see The Hundred being taken up by other countries until they see it being a success here. For it to be a success the TV coverage has to continue with increased viewing figures with continued large crowds at the games to create the atmosphere. However, I can see the numbers dropping off once the novelty factor goes
There is absolutely no way this is sustainable, no. And as it stands the obvious format to disappear is the 50 over (both at county and international).
I agree that would be a shame, and also an issue as The Hundred will not be sustainable as a format alongside T20 - it's too similar. I can't see how they can both run concurrently for a long period.
So this is what the buffoons in charge of the Category A county grounds think. You can bet they've colluded to come to some sort of nonsense statement - Warks, Hants, Lancs, Notts etc... who think players need a fortnights rest between T20 matches
We have to hope the Category B and C counties tell these twits in no uncertain terms that less CC or less Blast cricket is off the table. 14 CC games is already too few
So they are concerned at the amount of cricket these poor cricketers play. Solution - let's introduce yet another competition to insert in to the calendar!! You really couldn't make it up! They need to be reminded that like footballers they are in the entertainment business!!
Simple solution - County championship played throughout the season - 16 matches means a proper meaningful competition. T20 competition of 16 matches + quarter final and finals day. Make the 50 over competition a knock-out cup involving minor counties. When the players moan about the number of red ball days remind them of the days when they are not fielding and the number of days it's raining.
The ECB do have a lot to answer for with regards their disgraceful treatment of the test players especially in those horrendous bubbles on the Gold Coast and how it has left the likes of Ben Stokes literally scarred for life man. Why the county championship should pay the price for those ECB mistakes is beyond me
I have already now decided I will never set foot inside Old Trafford again. One by one I will find out which counties respect and which counties do not respect their members/supporters of the wider game and I will cross them off my list.

Warwickshire ae holding one of their "roadshows" and playing a Warwickshire league select XI next Tuesday august 9th at Coventry & North Warwicks ground.
It's another option for those who have free time next Tuesday & want to see some live cricket in a relaxed atmosphere.
I’m quite happy upto a point to watch any form of cricket, if that what it takes for the game to survive, but I feel a little bit cheated when a vast part of the first game is moved by the authorities to another form and I am asked to pay again or perhaps watch something of an inferior nature.
I remember the excitement of the introduction of the old John Player League, which revitalised cricket then, but we’re members then asked to pay again for watching the Sunday league I doubt it
Popped along to the roadshow game in Coventry last night, only half a mile from home so couldn't miss it really. Warks ended up losing by 7 wickets to a Warks League XI. Star performer for them was Shivam Bhambri who has first class experience in India. Didn't look troubled until he got out for 70.
Some interesting selections from Warks, Liam Norwell batted at 6 but didn't bowl. Michael Burgess fielded but didn't bat or keep. Matt Lamb batted well, but Will Rhodes looked very scratchy for the majority of his innings on his way to top scoring. Was surprised not to see Rob Yates involved which was a shame.
Olly Stone made an appearance walking around the boundary with a heavily bandaged hand but was good to see him.
Decent crowd of a few hundred in at peak, would be good to do this every year, I think the two events have been a success, although it seemed like the interest from Warks last night may have been on the low side.
With the hundred it feels like there has been no compromise
Why couldn't each county side play 12 one day games, at least we'd get 6 games at home. Players not regularly playing in the hundred could be released back to counties to compete.
4 days at home in August is so poor
