Last time out at Lancs our team was: Yates, Davies, Rhodes, Mousley, Barnard, Bethell, Burgess, Rae, OHD, Hassan & Lintott.

Hain will be back at 4, so if Yates is fit to play who drops out of the first 7? Woakes will come in for Rae, Briggs for Lintott, and one of Booth/Miles/Norwell for Hassan.

Possibly Briggs for Mousley?

Its a shame about Rae. I thought he did well as cover and could be an option for the One Day Cup.
Let's see how Norwell holds up. What happened to Jamal? Another overseas recruit that hasn't worked out.
I would think from the squad that Benjamin, Booth and Miles miss out and it is between Mousley and Briggs for the remaining spot.

Ha- I see what you did there, nice Lemonheads reference! I am wondering if Yates is fit then could they possibly have Davies keep wicket and leave Burgess out? Also is it too risky to play both Norwell & Woakes given their lack of game time?

Possible team: Yates, Davies, Rhodes, Hain, Barnard, Mousley, Bethell, Woakes, Briggs, OHD, Miles.

I'm glad someone spotted the indie music reference!
So Yates is still not well and Norwell is not risked. Still a strong team.

Woakes not sharp enough to play today for me and we wasted the new ball on him. Poor decision to play him & the ever expensive Miles, Hampshire's top order is very average but we look toothless. The new ball was giving some assistance early on as well but we could not take advantage...........another long match on the way by the looks of things.

298 all out. Wickets shared around by the seamers. Excellent day in the field considering Hants chose to bat.

The only worry is throwing away a couple of wickets at the end. Need a solid start tomorrow!

I thought we did well to bowl them out for under 300, the crucial wicket for me was Miles getting Ben Brown out as he & Dawson looked to be taking them to a big total. Fair play to Barnard as well, 3 wickets is a good return for a part-time bowler. Disappointed to lose two wickets at the end, still we have a strong middle order who can take us past their total tomorrow.

Yeah great effort considering we haven't done a day in the field in the heat for a good while and the opportunity won the toss and got to 120/1. Fair play to Miles on the 3 wickets but goodness me he bowled some poor stuff. I thought Woakes was OK, knocked the rust off, looked pacy, he'll only get better. Barnard terrific, the only one who got it to move off the pitch.

OHD was the pick for me though, he just doesn't bowl a bad ball. Bowls well from the city end with the older ball.

Decent day all told. I'm not the biggest fan of Miles, he is a second division bowler. He got some crucial wickets but at a cost. I would have given Rae another go in this match if Norwell wasn't considered to be ready to play.
We need a big score from one of the middle order tomorrow.

Miles is a bit streaky, if he does get it right he’ll bowl some unplayable balls, which is why I think he gets some cheap wickets off poor balls like the Brown wicket, a classic strangle down leg.
But he seems to just try too hard at times and that’s when he can throw it all over the place.

OHD on the other hand is a metronome.

Hoping today the pitch gets even better to bat on, we keep them out there all day in the heat. The bowlers rest up, then fingers crossed yesterdays overs return Woakes to his usual high quality and we could put a lot of pressure on in the second innings. That relies on a good batting performance though. We have a lot of batting, so we’ll see how it goes.

There's a bit of nibble this morning, nothing exaggerated but enough.

Was hoping it would be warm and sunny. Instead, it’s warm, but so far overcast and humid, just making the ball do something in the air and looks like the pitch is a little bit more lively, the Barnard wicket ball was superb, swings in, seamed away just enough.
Barker is bowling beautifully, just asking questions with almost every ball.
Definitely tougher going today, makes it more annoying both openers were careless last night and got themselves out.

Why did we let Barker go?

Shame that Bethell swept at wide ball and got out on 69, he looked well set for a maiden first class century. Similar shot by Woakes going cheaply for 6....again to nemesis Barker - now with 6 wickets!
