He gets a CC chance while Briggs is injured, gets 3 overs, takes a wicket (on a pitch and in conditions made for him) - and then has no other opportunities to stake a long term red ball claim.

I just haven't seen enough of him which is why I've not mentioned him in my posts on this subject. Would be unfair.

Great effort from Bethall and Lintott with seam bowlers doing a real good job to. Rae is looking like a very handy bowler

As soon as I posted (above), they brought Jake on - and he took 2 more wickets (finishing with 3 for 10 off nearly 6 overs) - great for him. And have you seen Will Rhodes' catch of Nathan Lyon - absolutely magnificent. I really hope that this is the start of long(er) career for us in red ball - we know what he CAN do with a white ball.

Was it Rob Yates ? I thought it was Rhodes. But, whoever, it was amazing - one of the best I've seen for a while, how he adjusted himself after the ricochet !

Sibley did it four times for Warwickshire and he was the first since Westwood in 2010.

Davies on course to become only the second ever Warwickshire player to carry his bat in both innings!

Very pleased to see Jacob Bethell have a good game, making a big contribution with both bat and ball. He is a player we need to persevere with and allow to develop to his full potential.

The loss of form from Danny Briggs is concerning, hopefully he is given the support and coaching needed to return to his previous performance levels.

Yes, extraordinary is the word!!

A question: assuming a full days play tomorrow, what would people do? Declare overnight to maximize our chances against a struggling side but risk losing or make the game safe and hope to nick it late on? With 8 for a draw and 16 for a win I'd go for make it safe(ish) 4.5 plus an over to win before declaring.

There was an game earlier this season with a similar scenario(can't remember against who) where the risk appetite seemed to be to set 300 in 75 overs - which I think is probably just between those two positions of save the game first then trying to nick it. Its about right to my mind but if we got them out for 150 odd first innings we could be a bit more aggressive.

With a full day, bat for an hour then declare. But we won't be getting a full day looking at the weather forecast.
I'd still bat for an hour but then expect it to fizzle out in the rain. The draw points have been doing us quite a favour so far this year.

If it’s wet first up then Warwickshire may well think they have enough already. Look at the way it turned yesterday afternoon. By midday today it could be impossible to play the spinners. They won’t want to go into the break without a win so they will surely go for it.
