Ed Barnard proving a very good acquisition, hopefully he gets a ton tomorrow. Can someone enlighten me on the Woakes situation? Is he back from the IPL? Every early season he seems not to play for us. Given the lack of our top class bowlers not being available this is frustrating. Annoying that other England players are getting practice in with their respective Counties.

Chris Woakes is at the IPL until next week, he's been there since March. He hasn't played at all though thus far.

April/May last season he was playing for us to be fair.

Will we see a bowling attack of Hasan Ali, Chris Woakes, Rushworth and Norwell this season? That is some line-up if it happens!

I virtually never see games live anymore but this seems to be perceived as a big success and I'm minded to agree. I'd normally see all those 20s a d 30s and say they're a bit short but seems a lot of potential collapses were averted. We don't have the strongest attack and Surrey have some good bats back, could be a long time in the field but them batting last could see this being in the balance right the way to the end.

If you're looking for a line-up that involves Norwell, best to check the queue outside the physio's room.

Bloody hell, missed out on another batting point, great innings from Barnard but didn't expect that shot and I do think we are a few short, lots of starts but I hope our bowlers can prove me wrong.

Surely Rushworth and Norwell must be close to fitness? The calf injury to Rushworth wasn't supposed to be too serious, and, Norwell has a pectoral strain which happened over a month ago. We'd certainly give Surrey a stern test if they faced that fully fit bowling attack. Amazing that none of them are available!

Well, when I said we were short, it would see as though we are. Could be a stern test this afternoon with Surrey close to our total and a few batsmen to come. Anyone else think we need a spinner, RY could be doing a lot of bowling, just hope he has the success he has had so far this season.

I still don’t understand why Surrey chose to field unless they are so cocky their worry was taking 20 wickets in the match?

Not a bad effort in the end. I hope Miles is ok. What a way to get injured after bowling so well?

Serves the commentators right. Collins and Norcross so dreadful and self important and a strange posh lady who can barely speak because of the plum in her mouth. At one stage she stated Surrey would only be batting once in the game!

The completely independent stream commentators are always the worst.
The ones that just use the BBC commentators at least try to be balanced. They’re still biased but can’t be so overt.
The Lancashire and Surrey stream commentaries are horrendously one eyed.

People seem to like/rate Norcross, I've never been keen, he is chocolate. And is Charlie Reynolds a geezer or a bird? I can't tell. Needs to show us where they piss from. Dan Whiting was good as ever though, great lad.

Anyway, glad to see us get a few at the end, we fought hard but it still looked like getting away from us. Miles was good, 5 good wickets, some great deliveries, he swung the ball. Bethell was probably a little better than the figures suggest, needs a bit more guile though. Will come the more he bowls. Jamal bowled some decent deliveries, really need a tune out of yer overseas when the chips are down though.

The wicket of Roach was surreal, absolute stunner from Yates, great celebrations with blokes running everywhere and then Miles rolling his ankle. Hope he's OK.

Somerset are the worst for this, total disgrace, this Surrey stream is nowhere near that bad.

I think it was more that I just can’t stand Norcross or Collins. Neither are as good a broadcaster as they think they are.

So the posh one might be bloke? Either way they were delivering one word a minute because they were struggling to speak and when they did claimed Surrey would be batting once in the match!

There was a BBC Radio London stream, with comentary from the Local Surry reporter and Richard Wildofrd from BBC WM, available on the BBC Sport website and via the BBC sport App

Yes! I knew I’d forgotten one, shocking one to forget, you’re right they are the worst.
That’s a county that thinks the world of themselves in general, their stream is just an accurate representation of their fans.

I like all the streams and commentators in general I think they do try to be fair minded and you have to accept a Surrey focused stream will be more up to speed on their players. I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing just worth having in the back of one's mind when tuning in. On Surrey I've always liked that Mark Church very warm and convivial commentary style last year when Warks got absolutely pumped by them you could tell he a bit like the majority of county fans sounded a bit embarrassed when it gets so one sided. I think the Surrey members will be rather pleased Warks are giving them a game this time as they did to be fair at the Oval in 2022 when Warks were in decent positions to go on to win several times.

Melinda Farrell was quite rightly getting some praise on here for her commentaries recently. I'm sure she will be proud that she has now achieved the ultimate recognition - being featured on Private Eye's Commentatorballs for saying (allegedly): "There's a TV installed in the men's Portaloos so that you can watch the live stream."

Melinda is generally pretty good as a broadcaster. She got herself in a tangle recently defending the kookaburra ball being used early season and in the processed displayed ignorance about where the County Championship fits in our cricket fabric compared to Sheffield Shield.

She’s nowhere near as pretentious or irritating as Norcross and Adam Collins.

The strange posh one was a jolt yesterday too!

I think the BBC commentators generally have better grounding and training than this lot!

Surrey do this time and again, such a strong lower order. Jamie Smith is a tremendous player.
