Just had a look at the Met Office forecast and Sunday looks to be be the worst as far as rain goes but the temperatures look awful as well. Anyone going, do not put away your big coats away yet, they could be needed.

Anyone else find it concerning that Sam Hain is missing the fourth game in a row?

Agreed Highveld, Sam Hain's continued absence is a real worry. I'd assumed he would be playing in this game given that he turned out for the seconds earlier in the week but clearly not. Wishing him well, whatever the issue is.
Agreed, hopefully he has the best wishes of all members here.
Notts win the toss and bat first.
Jamal makes his debut.
If only Duckett could have got out early. But, he didn't and we have had the worst of the day. OHD was superb and so was Rhodes in spells and Hassan later but not over-impressed with the new guy but hopefully he will improve as he plays more. As for Briggs, this is a worry as he looks innocuous again and just appears to feed runs whilst rarely giving anyone any trouble. Credit to Duckett though, he played intelligently from the start whilst still keeping up his very attacking way of playing.
Very interesting days cricket, really ebbed and flowed, enjoyed it. Really good cricket wicket, better carry than previous home games and a little bit in it for the bowlers if they could bowl well for long periods. Bethell dropping Slater on 0 was significant I thought, had he held that it would have been 19 for 2 and we'd have had a crack at the middle order early. OHD was terrific, seems to be at his most threatening when he's getting that bit of nip off the pitch, he barely bowled a bad delivery. Rhodes is in decent rhythm right now and is swinging the ball. Aamer Jamal looks like one for the quicker delivery as opposed to the quick spell, he seems to hit the pitch hard but when he went full he looked hittable. Need more of a look at him though. Great to get 8 wickets, particularly as it looked like it had almost gotten away from us at one stage, but I'm not sure we bowled well enough for long enough as a unit from both ends today to really put Notts in proper trouble. 2nd new ball boost was clearly huge for us.
A word on Duckett, that's the best ton we'll see by an opponent this season. Stunning knock. You see him on TV for England and he is clearly a good player but its not til you sit in the stands and watch him that you appreciate what a good player he is technically. Weight distribution and footwork were excellent, never out of position, great hands through the ball, he seemed to have so much more time than any other batter. Always finds gaps. Just really knows his own game these days.
Notts 400 all out. Bears 17/1. Good to see England's batsmen getting plenty of practice in....Duckett, Root & Brook all getting centuries. Meanwhile in the IPL....
All this on/off cricket hasn't done us any favours and those are horrible conditions to bat in. Glad I didn't go.
Great to see Jacob Bethell getting his highest first team score for us today, hopefully it does even better going forwards.
He looked good yesterday and today, compact and tighter, not as loose as he's done in the past. Just shows what a run of games can do I guess.
What an exciting talent Bethell is. An all-format player and genuine all-rounder. Great attitude too.
Well the good news is that we haven’t lost a game yet. The bad news is that we haven’t won either. Still a pretty solid start to the season, I’d say.
I’m still struggling to work out if we’re any good.
All due respect to Davies, Yates and Rhodes, you’ve still got to score them, but as we saw across the country the Kookaburra was a run fest. Not a clear picture of the overall performance of the team.
The weather has intervened significantly in the Dukes matches meaning a draw has always been the most likely outcome.
Combined with the fact the rain has made the pitches slow, short boundaries on 1 side often, groundsmen typically going with a flatter pitch rather than be torn to shreds for a low scoring game.
April cricket I suppose …..
