Not to make excuses for them, but feel like Durham are learning the lessons most of the others teams learned in round 1.
They were like the bears last week, very wayward and wasteful early on. By the time they fixed it, the ball had gone soft and now they’re fighting an up hill battle, against set batsmen, on a good deck, with a soft ball and tired bowlers.
Bears need to keep them out there for most of tomorrow. With this ball, think weight of runs & using that tiredness from the field is the best way to try earn a win.

2nd highest opening stand in Bears history.

  1. 377 Horner and Khalid Ibadulla 1960
  2. 343 Davies and Yates 2024

Max batting points with the loss of only one wicket, remarkable.

Davies 200 not out.

We’ve had worse days!

Pleased for Davies, he’s had a lot of criticism since he joined us, some deserved, some undeserved, so great to see him get a big score.

Yes let's enjoy it. Imagine being on the other end of that today?!

Wouldn't say Durham bowled badly at all but with a very short boundary on one side, it was easy to get 4's (And a few 6's) and a boundary on the other side that seemed twice as long, 2's could be turned into 3's and 1's into 2's. Both openers did what you should do in that situation, cash in and go big. Haven't seen us score that many in a day in ages. Could be a 700 job and with wickets in hand and fast scoring, that could be achieved halfway through tomorrow. Boland going off didn't help them, I have lost count of the amount of overseas players I have seen go off the pitch when runs are being scored by the opposition and yet it's different when wickets are falling, funny that.

A scoreline like that in a day reminds me of the Lara season (we forget the 2nd time!)

Cracking partnership today. Durham have a bit more pace than most attacks and with it coming onto the ball nicely along with a short boundary, Davies looks like he is in his element.

It does have to be said that there are not many wickets anywhere today (2 for Garrett).

Yes it's very, very early days but it's nice to see George Garrett getting a few wickets. Another academy lad who never got a proper go at Edgbaston.

Just like to say that on the livestream and commentary I think we are blessed to have one of the best teams in the country - panel of commentators and summarises from BBC radio WM/CWR they've been superb for years and years and the guests they have on all excellent to listen to. This match they also have Melinda Farrell on who I think takes the coverage up a notch further still. Brilliant coverage please continue this would almost almost be worth paying for which one day we may have to do

Did well to get 3 wickets but the pitch looks good but having seen the forecast for Monday, it might be just alright for us to get maximum bowling points and take those.

I told Melinda Farrell what you said about her and she was very pleased - but slightly less so when I told her your user name.

Have always admired Melinda Farrell as a broadcaster but she's been absolutely fantastic on ball by ball comes thus far, a real natural.

The lack of pace in our attack could be exposed today...

Ended the day right on top. Will it stay dry enough to give us time to get 8 wickets?
