Assuming the guys from the other comp are available and the club intend to use them (assuming Woakes is ruled out by ECB and Moeen in T20 squad) are we looking at a line up of

Yates
Barnard
Rhodes
Hain
Mousley
Burgess
E Brookes
Lintott
H Brookes
Briggs
OHD

Cannot see the point in keeping Woakes away from a game of cricket as he could be rusty when he does finally bowl. I sometimes wonder if the ECB ever think of saying to a player, "Do you think it might be beneficial for you to play a bit before '*@&^%%' or do you need to rest". Players know what suits them and some may think a game or 2 might actually be the best thing before an international ODI or T20.

Woakes is so far down the rabbit hole with strength and conditioning. We'll only get him back if it's 100% in his and England's interests to let him play 6 weeks out from.his squad duties at the world cup. I think we just have to accept that with Woakes.

Did he play any 4th format cricket this year?

Hain IN. Davies OUT (back)

No Mousley, no Benjamin as Robbo wants to stick, generally, with the players who got us this far.

Hampshire have a 17 man squad:

Official preview here https://edgbaston.com/fixtures/first-xi/warwickshire-v-tbc-29-august-2023/?fbclid=IwAR08KLSjIYOB6mfDtoJljfr0x4dZ7rv0VX4Qlu0j3EN5voi_1g-6RKrQXHU#match-match-previews

I do wonder if the "injury" to Davies is to protect his ego :-)

Must admit that was my first reaction too. Seems too convenient that they say he’s recovered from his injury, comes back in, can’t buy a run and suddenly when Hain is back, Davies is injured again.

I do think they’ve got the balance right. Everyone apart from Hain played in the group stages. Everyone but Hain, Bethell and Briggs played the majority of matches. Good blend of players who’ve been there for the whole comp and Hundred returnees. And still keeping some young players like Smith, Brookes and Bethell in there.

Anyone know what happens if it's rained off?

Depends if there is any play. Ultimately if there is no play there would be a bowl out.

Given all the days when there is no cricket being played why can't they have reserve days for the odd occasion when a game is not possible.

According to the playing regulations “one reserve day is allocated to the playoffs, semi-finals and final”. The minimum length of the second innings also increases to 20 overs for the knockout games.

Thanks for that EB. I can't believe the ECB have applied such common sense!!! I like the 20 over minimum too.

So does a reserve day get activated if e.g. there have only been 60 overs possible in the game today (50 first innings, 10 second innings)?

Not used to reserve days anymore

Looks a bit grey at Edgbaston but hopefully we shall miss the rain.
A pity about losing the tos (again).

I suppose we won’t know for sure until Hampshire bat but seems to be another of these Edgbaston wickets. Only Hain looked comfortable and even he’s had to adjust a bit!

No way was Briggs LBW - looked too high and going down leg side. 91-5 becomes 91-8. I can't see how we can get a score for the bowlers to bowl at

Five wickets for two runs is just not acceptable regardless of the pitch.

Tough pitch and some rancid umpiring but goodness me some poor cricket has been played here.

Nightmare, total nightmare in so many different ways. Some people will be here for the first time today and they witness this!
