Little chance of any play today, but the squad looks interesting.

I guess there will 7 or 8 of those, who will guarantee to be in the first Metro Bank game, but the remaining 3 or 4 will be difficult to predict. I'd like to see Michael Booth given a run out, a promising South African (English qualified) All Rounder who has played First Class cricket for KwaZulu / Natal and Durham UCCE.

No sign of Burgess or OHD so presume they are being rested. We are also lacking a quality overseas player, without one I cannot see us making waves in this competition.

If you add Burgess & OHD to the 13 in the squad for Wales, I think we'll have a decent 50 overs team, though not great. Hopefully, we might have a couple back later in the Tournament, with the new Undead rule, allowing non playing players to be released (with some conditions). It's likely Henry B and Bethell will be back, possibly Mousley and Benjamin.

My XI for the early 50 over games would be:-
Yates
Rhodes
Ethan Brookes
Barnard
Booth / Hamza Shaikh
Burgess
Lintott
Miles
Norwell
Johal
OHD

A decent seam attack, but Lintott and Yates will have a lot of spin bowling to do.

What do we know about Michael Booth? As far as I can tell he's 22 and played 6 T20's in SA a few years ago so not much of a record behind him for his age. Anyone ever seen him play, who is he comparable too?

Michael has been at Durham Uni for the last few years, so wasn't available to play domestic cricket in South Africa.

I'd expect Kai Smith to be in the side for the first few games, he did pretty well last season and had a good score for the second team last week.
