Extract of an E-mail from the club:

We can't wait to welcome you to Edgbaston on Saturday for Finals Day.

As an attendee, we're giving you a chance to get tickets for Finals Day in 2024 before anyone else and at the very best prices.

Anyone else think that members should get first access to these before 'attendees' or are we members just 'anyone else' these days?

I do not think members should have first access. This is a competition across the 18 counties and the supporters of the 4 finalists are the ones deserving of priority. If the event was held ot Lord's would you like the idea that tickets had all been bought by Middlesex/MCC members ahead of general sale. However, a certain amount are allocated to Warks members I believe which is how it should be IMO

Fair point. It's just a personal beef about the way WCCC treat the members at times. We have for many years bought finals day tickets irrespective of the 4 finalists.

My only comment on this is, why put the tickets on sale, when presumably the attendees this year will be en route home!!

Would 12/24 hours have made much difference given the game will be at least 365 days away.

Hope Somerset win, only because I would hate any of the others to do so.

Sitting here just highlights for me how many top county players we as Warwickshire members just don't get to see very often any more compared to 20 years ago. You used to see them all pretty much over the course of a two year cycle. Now not the case at all. Think they could do away with the groups stages for this and just have a proper 17 match league of it with top 4 into finals day and if 17 is too many play some of them abroad pre season

LeicesterExile, that does not make it any better as it is only Essex' 10th win so far and we won 11 in the group. Please someone, change the rules so they are like the 50-over competition and we could be at least in with a chance of finals day instead of watching sides (bar Somerset) who's record to qualify, was not as god as ours, play a semi-final today.

Paul I have to agree - however it looks as if Somerset are on top against Surrey. Hopefully they can pull it off

First time I've felt quite resentful on finals day. Seems perverse that the 2 other white ball comps played over a shorter period guarantee the group winners a semi-final place whilst the only reward for group winners in this comp is the same as coming 2nd i.e a home QF. Not suggesting we'd have gone on to win it but I'm finding it very hard to maintain any interest in an all south finals day brought about by the current format.

Good to see Surrey defeated. Hoping Somerset win the final. Fed up of seeing other Counties at Edgbaston and not the Bears on their own ground. Several things have conspired against us: Woakes messed around by England (no surprise there). Our white ball captain Moeen Ali called up late due to Leach's injury. Hassan Ali should've stayed until the end of July as originally contracted, but called back early by Pakistan. They need to ensure that the two group winners automatically qualify for the final, particularly as Somerset and the Bears bossed their groups. A nonsense that they have to play a quarter final.

Trust me you'd not have wanted to be sat there today it was alright in the shelter of the family stand square of the wicket but soon as I moved round to the traditionally sunny seats christ the wind was chilly. I lasted till half time of this final game

Well done Somerset to defend 2 scores below 150 is superb, they have won more game than anyone whilst winning the title and we cannot have any complaints. Glad Samms didn't win it for Essex and at last Somerset fans after paying out enormous amounts of dosh over the years to travel to finals, can actually go home with a smile on their faces and a trophy.

Interesting chat before the final on 5 live extra. From 10 mins;
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001nvfq
Glen Maxwell spoke well on a range of topics although I think he overegged the "burn out" point a tad
Does the Hundred justify itself if all the best players in it are no better than the players on show at Finals Day in the Blast?
And what is the Hundred's impact on the England 50-over ODi side going forwards if the next generation of England white ball players aren't in it but instead playing a random 100 ball format nobody gives a monkey's about?

Did they not win the One Day Cup in 2019 (the final at Lords)?

Yes they did but the amount of runners-up medals that they have mounted up over the years is huge including 3 in 2010. I have lost count of the amount of 2nd's they have 'Achieved'.

Interestingly from one of Maxwell's comments in that BBC comms piece it does appear to be the case that they sounded him out about possibly playing in the Essex County Championship game - the one that followed the Blast away games at Durham, Yorkshire and then the Friday night Bears v Pears derby.

Slightly disappointing to hear he rebuffed the idea - seems to suggest he's gone "no chance am I playing a short game Tuesday, Thursday & Friday and then a proper game Sunday to Wednesday".

Just read they won the T20 in 2005 and since then lost on Finals Day 7 times!
