Hopefully out of the T20 team for good. He is just not good enough. Give OHD a go.

That unbelievable grab by Bethell turned out to be the winning moment. Special mentions to Yates with the bat and Mousley with the ball tonight.

Yeah unfortunately I just have no faith in Brookes at the moment. Even when they needed 24 from 4 balls I thought he would bowl a full toss above waist height that would be hit for six, and then we’d lose. Fortunately we scraped over the line but that might not happen next time.

Yates is under the radar having a very decent comp.

I keep thinking Brookes will surely come good? But, I'm beginning to doubt him. 51 runs off 4 overs is pathetic. What happened to Hasan Ali?

I don't think he's been as bad as what some people on here have been making out. Last night was outrageous though.

I was there last night, my first T20 in years.
Impressions:-
1) A deserved win, but it should never had been that close.
2) Some very strange bowling selections by Davies. Taking bowlers off / swapping ends when they were doing well, not bowling the better guys for their full quota - and of course -
3) Letting Henry B bowl more than 1 over when he was clearly a liability - and letting him anywhere near the last over. The guy clearly hasn't got it, in any form of the game, after SO many opportunities.
4) Nice to see CW's still 'has it'..
5) Wonderful bowling by our best spinner (far far better than the 'front line' Briggs & Lintott). DM's bowling was a revelation to me - the paciest spinner I've seen for a long time. And unlucky getting out, when his batting looked very promising
6) Patience from Yates was good, Benjamin rode his luck, but at least took his chances.
7) Maxwell was very so so, bowling and batting.
8) Why is Bethell batting so low? His recent record deserves him to go in at latest 2 higher. And WHAT A CATCH he took - up there with some of the best I've ever seen.

All in all, I'm so glad I went - with my son, who has never followed in his Dad's footsteps for love of cricket, but has now been quite enthused by it all - and even was crying out "You Bears" with me at the end!

Glad you enjoyed it BR, and hopefully your son will now be converted! The point around Henry Brookes is reflective of a wider issue in my opinion, too many of our young bowlers simply don't progress, in fact quite the opposite. I'm thinking not just about HB but also about the likes of Garrett and Johal who once promised a lot but seem to have gone backwards. Even Lintott doesn't seem to be the force that he once was in T20, perhaps the opposition batters have worked him out?
I really hope HB can turn it around, he's still young enough but perhaps he's just not getting the right nurturing and a change of club might, sadly, be best all round. For now, his confidence must be shot to pieces and he needs resting for his own sake.

My recollection is that when Henry Brookes first came on the scene, everyone raved about his pace. Since his back problem, he seems to be no more than fast-medium and so has lost what was his biggest asset.

It’s definitely the case for Henry. Though he does still have some good variations when used properly.

Unfortunately he’s not the only one to have suffered like that. It’s becoming more and more common. Chris Jordan, Reece Topley, Matt Dunn, Ryan Harris. All were 90mph at the start of their careers and injuries robbed them of that ability.
Even the likes of Roland-Jones has lost a yard from injuries. But he was never that fast to begin with.

From my distant armchair I get the impression with Brookes he is not coping when under pressure - has looked vulnerable bowling at the death or when he has been tanked. As a result when watching last night I was surprised he was given the ball for the last over especially as the spinners had really got the better of the batsmen.

Must comment on THAT catch - quite simply the best I have ever seen. Even the Yorkshire commentators asked for it to be shown again - praise indeed!!

Bald_Reynard mentioning bowlers not bowling their full lot of overs, both Maddy and Chopra were good at that, seeing some bowlers have tight spells and then making sure the most expensive bowlers came back to get even more of a hiding.
