Totally agree with the declaration seeming odd. The only thing I can think of is Rushworth came back and said that it was very flat and we’d need all the time we could get.

It’s looking very hard going for the bowlers already. But I’ll be interested to see how Briggs goes.

OHD looks a completely different bowler in his second spell. Ball climbing off the pitch, pushing players back, then beating the edge as they hesitate to get forward.

It doesn't feel quite so warm here in Brum today maybe the same there but these Notts lads will be wiped out from being out on their feet all day yesterday and half of today. Greenish wicket but one I thought wouldn't provide all that much assistance to our attack I thought wrongly it seems

I too appear to have really misread the pitch. Thought it would be tough going early and then lose the green and get really flat.
Appears keeping them out there for as long as we did has drained them mentally. Tough to concentrate and make the right choices when batting if you’re physically and mentally exhausted from being cooked.

Gone about ad good as it could have done for Warwickshire today - but our opposition in the others games have had a good second half of the day as well. Surrey folded for 145, good to have them get zero batting bonus points, but have chipped away at Kent in the afternoon. Could easily see a situation where Surrey chase down 400 in the sun with plenty of time in the game while we can't quite break down Notts twice and the gap widens. Hants recovering well against Lancs, but they've got far more to do to get a win.

Have faith Tayls79, Surrey have been out-played and showed that they are not invincible as some think but I know what you mean about a run chase in the 4th innings. Without any more rain I think we will win but a problem must be to enforce the follow-on or not. If it feels right to bowl, carry on and enforce it. All depends on what Notts get. If they are 200 allout, why bat again with a 370+ lead.

Haha, I of little faith. And don't get me wrong, what will be, will be. My point was only really that Surrey and Hampshire, our competition, turned it on in co-ordinated fashion which would change the look of the top of table.

I think it’s one of those where we need to take care of ourselves first. Then we can see their results. Let’s get these last 5, make a decision on the follow on, and see what happens.

One big thing for us is that, we’ve got 4 batting points, Surrey and Hampshire got none. We should get full bowling points (please don’t let this jinx it). So even if they win. We gain ground, and have a game in hand.
Hampshire still trail by over 100 in their second innings. Surrey trail by over 350 with Kent still having 4 wickets in hand. Let’s keep our fingers crossed but first things first, let’s take care of our business. Hopefully, some moisture and the covers have juiced the pitch up, and we can make it tough for Notts today.

I think if we are in a position to follow on we should enforce it.

Either we bowl them out cheaply and haven't had too many overs in the field (with a break in between) so should be fresh enough to go again. Or they'll have batted for a while and we won't have enough time to bat again and then bowl them out.
