Deeply disappointed there are no comments about the openers.

Though I will say, that catch by Burgess was spectacular. That would be hard enough off side, but down the leg side that’s simply stunning.

Rushworth top order wickets, 3 in an over, but how good was OHD?! Even before he got his first I was thinking it was criminal he didn't have any. His lines were immaculate and he consistently found good areas. Great penetrative bowling.

It was an excellent bowling performance today, with Burgess doing a great job with the gloves.

Hopefully a nice warm and sunny day tomorrow, when we can enjoy watching Will Rhodes and Sam Hain batting us into a significant lead.

Could have done without losing 2 wickets overnight but a chance for the skipper to get a few. 300 would be nice but I would be happy with 250.

The weather forecast looks dry but mainly cloudy today. There will be moisture in the wicket early on so it favours the seam bowlers. It could be a tricky first hour or so. I hope we can dig in, but losing the second wicket to the last ball of the day will boost Essex.

It would be great if the skipper was that successful - if Hain is as successful we will declare at 500 before close of play!!!

Pitch is definitely offering assistance to the seamers. Versus Surrey the overheads were a big factor but this id say its the pitch this time.
Robinson remarked after Hampshire away that he wanted a bit of grass left on for Essex at home - and that's certainly what he's got here it seems.

Mousley looks a really nervous starter. Didn't look comfortable at all there.

It’s certainly been the round of matches for batting collapses. 5 wickets for less than 50 runs, undoing the good work from this morning. Conditions have changed and the sun is no longer shining but it’s still disappointing.

Briggs dimissal looks a shocker - replay seems to show the ball would have gone 2 feet above the stumps. Burgess before didn't look happy either

This reminds me a bit of Surrey last year.
Lose a couple of quick wickets, compounded by a couple of shocking decisions.

Both Briggs and Burgess didn’t look out. Burgess was clearly less than happy about it, and if you’re taking that long to give a cleanly caught catch behind, you probably shouldn’t be giving it. He’s bottled it under the pressure of the celebration.

Well that was fun. That’s a huge partnership in the context of the match. Never thought I’d see OHD hit back-to-back sixes!

I actually don’t think it was that, I think he was waiting to see if Burgess would walk. Clearly Burgess didn’t think he’d hit it but his bat was away from his body when he played the shot
