Agreed, although often we seem to have nice weather in April (though never warm!)

Just to emphasise the point about the difference between Test grounds and the rest, the game at Bristol has been abandoned already without a ball being bowled.
Hopefully, the next inspection at Edgbaston will produce some play.
Who will be County Champions if this weather continues? Forget the team with the best batters, bowlers and all-rounders - go for the team with the best groundsman and the best drains.

Nevil Road has hosted international cricket for ages, very recently in fact they've had ODI's, T20i's and women's Test matches?

Regarding our situation, this is very frustrating!

I know that Nevil Road has hosted international cricket but I'm talking about the main Test match grounds. Taunton, too, has staged international cricket as has Grace Road where play has been abandoned for the second consecutive day; but you only have to look at the covering and drying facilities available at those grounds compared with the Test grounds like Edgbaston to see the difference - and that's before we talk about the money spent on re-doing the drains at the major grounds.
Anyway, let's hope that we get to see some cricket later.

The drainage at Edgbaston is poor, always has been. Only last year Nasser Hussain was hammering us for it during the Test. And he's mentioned it in previous years too. Said the amount of rain here just doesn't justify the amount of time lost. I agree. Irrespective of ground status.

Seems to be an issue with the run ups here today.

I think we all know it can only be a draw from here, but unlike the Somerset game it would be good to see a plan in place about how to get a victory from here. Don't have to stick to it with 2nd innings in hand. Declair straight away? Or another 14 overs to see what wrle can get with the bonus points? Or get 400 them put them in?

Almost all of the local cricket is off today, which shows how wet it has been in the last few days.

I think a result is still possible, but it will involve making Kent follow on

Very likely now, some impressive and aggressive cricket today.

Yep, a FO is very likely. Just a shame the weather tomorrow, looks decidedly iffy.

Can't ever recall seeing them come off for bad light under blue skies before...

Brilliant today and not too many overs on the bowlers legs either, but push tomorrow fingers crossed for good weather.

Another superb day. Whereas in the last match on a nothing pitch our attack looked very samey, today with the pitch doing a bit and the overhead conidtions very helpful, our attack looked perfectly suited and Kent struggled as a consequence. We batted well again too. I'm more confident for the season than I was a week or so ago.

It did seem odd to come off for light with blue skies overhead. What I hope is that they haven’t jumped the gun and that affects tomorrow as they have to go by todays reading, and it’s supposed to be dry but overcast tomorrow.

But other than that perfect day. Don’t think anything went wrong apart from Mousley not getting his 100. Took every chance, bowled well, not too many overs in the bowlers legs. 9 wickets needed.

Hopefully the weather stays dry. An overcast day is forecasted. We should skittle Kent!

It rained quite heavy in Brum during the small hours so expect a delayed start because Edgbaston...

Still think it'll be hard work pressing for victory even should they get on before lunch. However regardless of the result the performance backs up my thoughts last week after seeing parts of the game at Taunton that we now possess the type of attack that will be able to take on the better sides in the division - Surrey Lancs Hants Essex.

Added to the top order now peeling off centuries it represents exciting times ahead. Short of injury or call ups i was thinking yesterday about that slip cordon could be in place for years to come - Yates, Hain, Mousley with Barnard or Rhodes at gully or 4th

Rushworth's second over yesterday was amongst the best ever seen at the ground and his spell set the tone brilliantly.

Ed Barnard and Chris Rushworth are quality additions to the squad and Hasan Ali looks to be the best overseas player of recent signings. So if Yates, Mousley and (later in the season) Jacob Bethell establish themselves, it looks like a powerful team with a good mix of youth and experience.
It may not be such good news for some of the players who haven't so far fulfilled their early promise, like Henry Brookes and George Garrett, for whom the last chance saloon (otherwise known as a loan to Derbyshire) may be looming..

I'm not that bothered if they don't win. Lots of other teams have had results lost to rain and we have got a full haul of bonus points.

More importantly though, they looked like they had a plan, played positively and dictated the terms of the game. That should do us well for the rest of the season. Admittedly it's easier when Kent make a mistake at the toss and have bowling injuries, but doesn't affect how well we played.

Unlike recent times, it's academy products that got us there too: Yates, Mouse, Hain all contributing. Get Bethell in later this season it's looking stronger from the academy for a while.

Rain or shine, win or draw, it's good either way.

Yes interesting to see how all this goes. I think a short term loan to Div 2 might do Henry some good right now, he needs to play. He'll be in and around our Blast side id have thought and it would be great if he could lead the attack in the One Day Cup this year.

Think Garrett might be struggling.

Johal has a couple of years left on his deal so he atleast has time.
