So, the club are soon to appoint a 'Performance Director', rather than a, "traditional Director of Cricket". From what's said, I don't know what the difference will be?!

Exactly. My reading of the PD job description, is that it could well be the same as that for a DoC. I would think the term Performance Director allows us to recruit a (non-Cricket based) 'Sporting Director' - perhaps from football or rugby - whereas a DoC would come from a cricket background.
