Only 3 front line bowlers today, plus the usual backups - Rhodes, Ethan B and Yates (oh and Lamb, I guess). Another crazy selection. Maddy in for Burgess (and keeping wicket) - Kai Smith again just in as a batsman.

Durham won the toss and put us in.

Johal must be leaving, to not get in the team when the bowling has been so poor in the last couple of games.

Pitch seems a weird one. Not a bad pitch to bat on as it were, but a hard pitch to score runs on.
The sort of surface where you could bat out the draw very comfortably, but never go above 2 an over.

In the end, a convincing win.

Am I right in thinking that, because the top two have to play each other on Tuesday and Gloucestershire have already finished their group matches, if the Bears win against Somerset who have yet to win a match, they will qualify for the quarter finals?

Sad to see what has become of Durham. Pale shadow of their former selves. ECB largely responsible. Used to be a right old bogey team for Warks once they found their feet in the 1990's. The Warwickshire innings looked a bit too comfortable Sibley enjoying a net basically which hopefully bodes well for his last three games hurrah in the championship for him.

I've pretty much had my fill of white ball cricket now all very formulaic albeit good to see Hamza, Kai and George come in and not look out of place also Ethan to kick on now. Might get a bit more exciting if it's a must win do or die game next

In view of the magical win by Rhodes’ heroes against Durham, we would like to make it clear that we have never wavered in our support for this magnificent group of players. As for Messrs Farbrace, Robinson, Mason and Frost, we are unanimous in signing a petition to ask Boris Johnson to ennoble them in his farewell honours list.

We are hoping that Durham beat Leicestershire and we beat Somerset. The group winners automatically go into the semi-finals (That should be the case in the T20 also) and the 2nd and 3rd qualify. So we must hope that Durham do better than today. They have lost a few players and like so many in this competition, once they lose the first 4, the rest of the batting looks lost. Not sure how many players they have lost to The Hundread but even 2-3 does make a difference. Good job Norwell had a good stint and then OHD as usual plus the skipper, because the rest were just about keeping us in it. Happy it didn't go down to the last 2 overs as I have no idea who might have had to bowl those if 20 were needed to win.

It's great to win with a 16, 16 and 17 year old.

Bowling was better but Garrett is still a major concern - I just don't think he's good enough, and sadly his fielding isn't up to much.

Hamza Sheikh had a great little knock though, and the catch was very good - was he definitely in play though?

Re Durham - they only have three players (maybe four) in the hundred by my reckoning, three playing for England, and are still that poor. Feel sorry for them.

What the ECB did to Durham given who was in charge at the ECB and based on his involvement at a rival northern county for hosting test matches was nothing short of a scandal and one which needs to be investigated.

Durham without whom England never have that rare position as no 1 test nation in the world around 2010-2012

I think we just need to win, if I'm reading it right, and 2nd and 3rd play a quarter final. Plus Sussex Middlesex is a result and not a draw/tie. I'm surprised we're still in this after the defeats at Leics and Middlesex. Much like the Surrey game infact. A quarter might do us some good, get these lads a pressure game and see what happens.

I read Somerset were missing 16 in a game last week. By my count we were missing 15 today. Could be a close one for two respective 2.5nd teams.

For Durham they obviously loose Lees, Potts and Stokes to England. 3 to the hundred. Plus Wood is injured. They save Rushworth for CC. They have Eckersley out too. Plus in the CC they rely heavily on Bedingham and Petersen as overseas too who aren’t playing in this competition. Probably fair to assume another injury or 2 to players we wouldn’t be familiar with. So whilst it’s not all the hundred, they’re lacking a lot of players for various reasons.

Think whatever happens against Somerset I just can’t see us winning the competition. Our bowling isn’t good enough against good teams, especially without a front line spinner. Also without Pandya and Burgess we lack a top order batsman who can consistently go at more than a run a ball.

Do we know anything about the likely fitness for Tuesday of Pandya and Burgess? I agree that their absence could be crucial.

Someone at the ground today said Burgess could be out for the season. Very anecdotal though so not sure how true.

No idea on Pandya

If he was trying to bat the other day I can’t see it being the season. Though maybe he might not be able to keep for the rest of the season.

I suspect both Burgess and Pandya won’t play against Somerset. But I think they’ll be available for the quarter finals. Otherwise at least for Pandya he would have just gone home.

Same as MikkyK I heard anecdotally that Burgess had dislocated a thumb. From my experience doing the same with a shoulder you can get some activity out of it for the rest of the day, then it stiffens up and its a proper injury. Plus he didn't look great batting against Middix.

As regards the competition my guess is quarters are the best we can do. Just too many crucial parts, such as a fourth seamer and white ball specialist bat, missing. I could take that with the players we have at the 100 absent and if some of these teenagers show they can develop at this high level. Leics and Middix are just that much closer to complete sides.

Is it possible that we could have some players back from the Hundred if we make Friday's quarter finals? Hain, Mousley, Miles and Lintott would make a huge difference to our chances.
