I have just received my 2022 Season Car Park Pass.
Last year I paid £75 to park on site for LV County Championship , RL50 AND T20 matches.
This year it's £100 to park on site for ONLY LV County Championship and RL50 matches.
NB Members used to be able to park on site free in years gone by ..... just saying.

This, to me is yet another example of members being asked to continually pay more for less. This seems to be an ongoing issue where member benefits are being eroded, and have been for a few years now.

Anyone else feel the same?

The pass does include T20 matches.

I hope so, but the accompanying letter that I received, stated the following:-
Please note if you wish to purchase parking for Vitality Blast or Hundred fixtures this must be done separately and is available from partners Parkthecarhere.com/edgbaston and continues
'No Parking will be available on the stadium on-site car park for these fixtures' ???

Really? I simply got a pass in an envelope - no letter. This must be an error. The club have surely broken some fair trade regulations by not stating the change in conditions when the passes were sold?

Malc, I really hope that you are right. I was really angry when I got the envelope this morning. I have written to Stuart Cain, Heidi Smith and Nick Brennan, the latter being the signatory on the letter.

I am awaiting a response.

Looking forward to seeing the responses.

I’m hoping that the ticket office manager is new and he just assumed that the T20 wasn’t included. Surely any changes to the conditions of sale should have been mentioned in the original email which stated that the passes were available.

It seems odd to me that this change has never been mentioned in any previous communication.

I remember at the 2020 AGM it was stated that the club would not lose parking space due to the new build. It was in fact suggested that extra space could be available due to underground car parking being available for the new apartments.

PS Have you noticed that the Birmingham Bears T20 badge is on the car park pass!

It's also worth noting that according to the club website "No car parking will be available to purchase for our LV= Insurance County Championship and Royal London Cup fixtures." So members without season tickets will have to park on the street or perhaps at Canon Hill Park.

This is also worrying (unless it only applies to members without a season car park pass?)

From WCCC website:-
Members and supporters can now purchase car parking for all Major Match and Vitality Blast fixtures at Edgbaston in 2022 online at parkthecarhere.com/edgbaston.

I have not yet had a reply from anyone at WCCC

Has everyone seen the update to the 'Car Parking Season Pass'. It appears that we are to now park across the road in Queens Ride for T20 matches.

E-mail received from Edgbaston

Hi ,

Thank you for renewing your car parking permit for the 2022 season.

You should by now have received your parking permit in the post ahead of the first day of the season today. This permit allows entry to parking for the County Championship and Royal London Cup fixtures, and you will find information on how to register your vehicle for Vitality Blast fixtures detailed below.

With the popularity of the Blast resulting in more foot traffic around the stadium, Members with a Seasonal Car Park pass will be able to book a space in the Queens Ride Car Park, opposite the Members Entrance (E2).

The car parks for the Vitality Blast use number plate recognition rather than physical parking permits as used for Championship and 50-over fixtures. By registering your licence plate, and completing the online form here, you will be registered for your Blast parking as a permit holder.

As a Membership team, we appreciate that this is a slight departure from the parking processes in place prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, so should you have any questions on how to register your vehicle, or car parking more generally, please do get in touch via tickets@edgbaston.com.

Kind Regards,

Nick Brennan

Thanks for that Coop. I’ve now come across several people who tell me the same story.

However, I’ve still not had the email!! I’ve sent emails and ventured to the ticket office at various intervals during the game yesterday and was given all sorts of excuses - one was that they didn’t have my email address, wish is simply tosh!

I’m not a happy bunny!

Yes, the consistency of their communication has a lot to be desired. Just wonder how long it will be before all of the on-site parking is off site !!

Looks like it is mainly park and walk:

Gave up on the car park years ago and now find a side street and walk a bit. It became too expensive and yet another way of taking money off us fans. When I first became a member in 1990 it was about £35 for a season pass (£74.50 in today's money) but then they decided to change it to paying every time you came in to park and it became too expensive. How much is it to park for a CC game.

For comparison, the LA Dodgers baseball team, who have, a minimum of 81, home game days per season, charge $25, if pre paid, for standard parking.

Parking near to the Staples centre for NBA Basketball and NHL Ice Hockey is around $40 per game.

Car PArk charges is a British decease. Everywhere you go if there is an opportunity to make money from car parking then that opportunity is grasped with both hands. Over in France is similar to the US experience - Hospitals, Seaside resorts, city centres all free or at least loads of free spaces available. It is a shame that Warks has gone down the same road. I too remember the 90s with the very reasonable charge
