Maybe Miles for Johal or Garrett
I’d really like to see Burgess and Rhodes given a rest. They’re the only ones who have played every match this season. It’s counterintuitive but, in my mind, the club can’t win this competition with this weakened a squad.
But in T20 it’s just 3 matches.
And in the county championship they’re top of the table with 4 matches to play.
Winning is achievable in those. You don’t want players getting burnt out in this and jeopardising other competitions.

IF Miles is fit (big if), he has to come in for Garrett. George has shown very little this season. I would think its only a matter of time before his release is announced ? Early days, but Manraj looks promising. Personally, if CM is still out, I'd give KvV another chance - and move him up the order to 6 or 7 - he's a decent bat. Or, if Chakrapani has finished his exams, bring him back. We've got 4 seamers in anyway, in Bulpitt, Johal, Brookes and Rhodes

A wonderful 6th wicket partnership of 153 between Lamb and Brookes. Matt got 119NO off 105 balls (at last showing his quality in white ball) and Ethan, 63. We made 303 for 6 - not bad after being 121 for 5 after 23 overs. Rob Yates also keeping his form up, with 72. Pollock a duck, Bethell with 3 and Burgess with 12, were the only ones not doing it today. Chris Wright got caned - 60 off his 7 overs (8.5 an over !), for no wickets.

Brilliant innings from Lamb particularly when you consider wickets fell all around him early on.
Well that was a very exciting way to spend two hours on a Thursday. Not for the first time this season we win a game we looked very likely to lose. Good batting from Lamb and Ethan to get us to 300 and Rhodes and Garrett were steady at the end - but Leicestershire threw it away a bit. Watched it on the feed - with 7,000 others at the end plus another say 300 in the ground?
Interesting how the skipper brought himself on as SIXTH change and was probably the best bowler, completing his quota.

I am pleased to say that George has (partly) proved me wrong. I thought he'd had 'his day' and we'd never see him show some of the stengths he displayed today, particularly being able to hold himself together in a (very) pressured situation at the end. His technical skills still seem to be lacking though and he was very lucky in getting a couple of wickets. He also bowled a lot of loose balls.
I do hope he moves on from here. He still needs to develop his technical abilities, but he's only 21 and COULD still be the promisingly decent seam bowler we saw a couple of years ago.

Fantastic win. Great character and heart, we hung on in there, took the game deep and Leicestershire wilted. Fantastic innings, match winning innings, from Matt Lamb, he took charge there and played the spin well. Enterprising little innings from E. Brookes too, that 6 over extra cover had to be seen to be believed.
Rhodes bowled 10 overs unchanged right through til the death, think the others were inspired by it and went with him.
They will take so much from today. So much belief.
Well done to the guys for showing true grit and determination. However, what's happened to all our first choice bowlers? I know Olly is out for a long spell, Chris Woakes? Still injured?
Wonderful. Makes you wonder why Rhodes took so long to have a bowl and in the end it was his spell that changed the game. In this competition, we have had 100's from Yates, Pollock and Lamb, all young players who have managed to get big scores when years ago we saw plenty of established batsmen (Not batters) who never really crossed that line of making 3 figures. Superb win for us and great to the lads not give up when it looked hopeless.
A very interesting game of cricket. Not that it needed any proof, but that showed why 50 over cricket is so good. Ebbed and flowed so nicely, was convinced we would win with over 300, then when they put 150 on for their first wicket it seemed a foregone conclusion they would win and ultimately we came out on top - great fightback.
Lamb's innings was particularly good as we were in big trouble when he came to the crease. I really hope he can kick on from here. Brookes obviously also deserves a big mention.
And then Rhodes changed the game with his bowling. A quite unbelievable spell given how much our spinners struggled compared to theirs. He seemed to bowl a decent line and length and got it pretty much spot on for 10 overs (did get away with one over head no ball).
Garrett ultimately got good figures but I think there were a few full tosses he got away with and although it was good bowling at times, one wicket was a great take from Burgess and another was when the guy was clearly injured.
He did hold his nerve towards the end though, something they completely failed to do and I think Leicestershire fans will definitely be saying they lost it rather than us winning it - Patel played beautifully but did give his wicket away.
Having said that we've had a few this season where it's appeared that the oppo has thrown it away so we clearly have a fighting spirit that I haven't seen for a few years so long may it continue.

It didn't strike me particularly as a second XI from Leicester. A couple of notable absences in Parkinson and Ackerman, but by and large that was their first team wasn't it?
A very similar side to the one they fielded against us in the T20 and in fact Ben Mike, who played in the T20, couldn't get in the team yesterday, so they weren't that much weakened!
