As KoS predicted - a major Overseas signing. NZ Captain - I guess Larsen was instrumental in getting him.

Good, an experienced opening batsman, with a great pedigree. I wonder, given all the talk from Larsen (again, nothing from Robinson) about, "bringing experience and leadership to our squad", could mean Latham's appointment as Captain (at least in red ball). Obviously, that would depend on what the 'Review' says about Davies's record !

Seems like a very good choice, and unlikely to be using us as a holiday camp, unlike some of our recent overseas signings.
He would be an excellent choice as captain, keeping Barnard as VC.
Very good signing on paper.
Fingers crossed !
Very happy with this news, should add some much needed substance and experience to the top order, and the fact that he's available for the full season across all formats is even better news.
Don't anticipate any change in captaincy, but the outcome of the review should be made known very soon indeed, if the end of November deadline is going to be met!
New Zealanders on the whole, never come across as being a problem like signings from other Test nations, so hopefully this is a good signing and he is international standard. His strike rate at T20 isn't that special but compared to what we have had since Jeetan, it represents a feeling that the club have actually thought about it.
Looks a great signing, and I'm lovin' the all formats bit.
Adds some more interest to the current test series too!
Looks a decent signing. Definitely got the experience, he's done the gig before at a few counties, I seem to remember him doing well at Durham.
Availability a huge plus, especially in this day and age. As Paul alluded to though I think he'll be an odd pick in t20 cricket. Great if he plays the One Day Cup however.
Excellent to have a cricketer with such vast experience around the place.
Wouldn't be keen on him doing the captaincy, not that hes ever struck me as being a bad captain, just let him bat.
Don't know of its been covered elsewhere but I seem to have a memory of Latham keeping wicket a bit at one point? I could be mistaken though.
First rate signing that fills one of the batting holes. Reliable seamer required next and we could be competitive. But then I guess Rob Yates is going to be doing a lot of the spin bowling next year.
Andy, yes I think he's kept more than occasionally and fairly recently too. Don't think he (or Davies) should be doing it in the cc though, top three is a job in itself.
I presume Latham goes in at three as a straight swap for Rhodes, which I think should be good.
It's irrelevant now, but I had noodled a month or so ago that seeing as Mo Ali isn't going to play for England anymore he could use his "play and pay" clause to bat three in cc and bowl spin. As it stands, however, think it's more likely he retires from.cricket than does this.
Don't think much of his slip fielding going off this Test!
I do hope he is getting all his fielding mishaps out of the way in this series and when he is finished helping England to get more runs, he is up to scratch at the start of the 2025 season.
Not sure how to start a new thread but Gavin Larsen has announced he is leaving.
Goodness me another drop
