As usual, kind and constructive comments welcomed and the other sort tolerated because I believe in free speech!

It's a first rate review but I think our coach is MARK Robinson rather than that guy from Neighbours! Maybe Paul could do a better job.

Whoops! I must have been dreaming of Kylie Minogue (again)!

One possible option as an "Overseas" player, for part of next season would be Mark Adair, who is the leading all rounder for his country, and is a British citizen.

Strange that a British citizen has to be classed as an "overseas" player, but non brits were not classified as overseas.

A very fair and balanced assessment of the season, as ever, GS - Kylie notwithstanding!

In terms of an OSP next year, I heard good things about Anderson Phillip, who played a couple games for Lancs at the end of the season, with some success (..though obviously not enough for them to stave off relegation!). Essentially a quickish bowler, he can bat a bit too, apparently had a great attitude and would hopefully be available for the entire, or at least the majority of the season.

I thought 'the ship had sailed' or MA had 'burnt his bridges' at Edgbaston, to mix my metaphors!
And he didn't 'pull up any (Championship bowling) daisies' with Essex in 2023 - 2 wickets at an average of 111, in 2 matches (though his batting average was good - he got 3 x 50's, with an 88).

He's consistantly performing well for Ireland, and doesn't miss many games, both of which are rare for our recent overseas players.

Quote from the late American football coach Oail Andrew "Bum" Phillips Jr.
"There's two kinds of coaches, them that's fired and them that's gonna be fired."
Just saying!

Bum Phillips was a very good coach, one of the best of his generation, his son, Wade Phillips, was one of the best specialist defence coaches ever, and is still working in his mid 70's and the grandson is also a good coach at NFL level.

I think there was a membership forum last night. Did anybody go?

Total silence since this review was called. No recruitment, no words from the hierarchy.

Interesting news that Darren Lehmann is available and in the running for Northants. We need to move quickly to get him (if Trotty or Bell are unavailable). Ideal replacement for the dead-man walking Robinson.

If Darren Lehmann is appointed, let's hope that the local Screwfix store has plenty of supplies of sandpaper.

In view of the recent propoganda film about Davies, the North Korean communist party would be proud of that film, I'd not be surprised if there are no changes made.

Lehmann has been appointed by Northants. A shame, he could have been a good call for us, IF Robinson does go. I'm not expecting that now, but if by any chance, Larsen or the Management/Executive team see sense, I really hope that they might be talking to the likes of Trotty.

Trott only signed this summer to be the coach of one of the South African IPL franchises.
Paid more for a months work there than a year in county cricket. Plus he’s “home” and the weather is nicer.
Think he’s off the table for a couple of years unless a major test playing nation game in for him. Likely only England, New Zealand or South Africa.

Interview with Ethan Bamber, VERY interesting (possibly!), that all the WCCC part is done by Larsen, there are no comments by Robinson and no mention by Bamber that he is looking forward to working with / benefiting from the coaching of MR ..... blah blah ..... like new recruits often say.

I might be reading too much into this, but I might not be!!

And nothing from Robinson on Bethell's call up. You'd think the Head Coach would have been pointing out how Jacob has been helped by his route through the County coaching structure. No mention of MR.

Larsen seems to be front and centre at the moment. Robinson nowhere to be seen or heard.
It's a shame we missed out on Lehmann, a real coup for Northants. That's the calibre of coach we need.

That's my reading of it, KoS. I think the 'sands have shifted' and Robinson could well be on his way. All the runes in October, seem to indicate that he has been (quietly) pushed aside. No interviews from him, no statements about plans for next season - and most importantly, the club have announced nothing about incoming, or outgoing players. To me, that smacks of, 'no decisions until we get a new Head Coach'.

I certainly hope you are right BR.

Meanwhile, as the club dithers, we are missing out on potential coaches and players. Recruitment is crucial. Even today Middlesex have signed Zafar Gohar from Gloucester (classed as a domestic rather than overseas player). He would have been an ideal addition to be our main spinner and he can bat too.
