It would be laughable if Roman Walker has to play. There are better bowlers in the Birmingham League.

That would be ludicrous, we would be better off if Robinson himself decided to play. Maybe they could ask Dennis if he still has his gear despite not using it since 1987.

Is he the left arm seamer we've been looking for? He did once bowl his full allocation of overs in a Lord's final.

He was a left-armer, bowled 'Chinamen' from what I have gathered from books and yes, did bowl in a Gillette Cup final (12-0-63-0) when Tom Cartwright had to pull out at the last minute, not sure if he bowled medium pace or not. Does anyone know anybody who went to any of those Gillette finals in 1966 or 1968.

When Dennis started out he was seen as an all-rounder - batted right handed and bowled left arm seam. But early on, he had back problems and largely gave up the bowling. He did bowl his quota as an emergency fill-in in 1968 when Warwickshire beat Sussex to win the Gillette Cup (and yes, I was there!)
He bowled left arm seam that day and I really don't recall him ever bowling spin, Chinamen or any other form but I could be wrong about that.

And there was me thinking you were a nipper, Gerry. I would love to think that somewhere there is film of this final but from what I heard, ITV in the Midlands (Probably elsewhere) showed the final, not sure if it was filmed and because Warwickshire needed the grand sum of 5 runs per over, the ITV Midlands idiots, chose to leave the game as they assumed that a team could not possibly score at such an alarming rate so anyone who was a Bear, had to turn on the radio and listen. Quite unbelievable. Alan Smith scored 39 out of the 60 that he and Amiss put on to win. I have a programme and ticket from the game that I got on e-bay for £8, bargain.

This was back in the days when, as a Warwickshire member, you could sit in the members' area at Lord's for the Final so I was in front of the pavilion and got a fantastic view of the match. I think that practice came to an end a year or two later when some Lancashire members at a Final behaved badly and the MCC members objected to having to share the pavilion with plebs.
Alan Smith was quite an unorthodox batter and I don't think Sussex knew how to bowl to him or set a field for him.

Talk about 'Soggiest of Squibs', fancy holding the 50 over final on a Sunday, it it's held over till tomorrow, how many fans will have booked the day off work if that is the case. Might have got it finished yesterday, at least having it over the weekend, it gives you a chance. Weather looks poor all week so that might mean we can save the fingernail biting until next season, we shall see.

It just shows the lack of thought for spectators that goes into planning fixtures. I can see no reson why the games could not have been held yesterday with today as a reserve day. Now it looks as if they will do their best to get 30 overs in to avoid a refund or at least 15 overs so they can keep half the money.

Not sure what happens if they cannot play this week with CC fixtures starting on Thursday.

Yes, let’s drop our top run scorer and bring in someone that scored 114 runs in 13 innings in the T20 and that averages 24.5 in first class cricket, that should do it 😂

Change is needed, the ones I am suggesting are positive, and will give a new captain the best change of ensuring Div 1 survival.

Best chance of survival is to have Davies in who can at least score runs, playing in his normal position. Benjamin has no place in any side.
