Lancs are now 36 behind us, due to play Somerset next week.
As rain is going to play a larger role in the next 2 weeks, it would take an almighty effort for them to win 2 and us lose 2.
Thought that match summed up the frustrating nature of this season.
Good new ball bowling, but then letting sides score too many, the ability to score runs quickly but the constant potential for a match turning hour with the bat undoing all the hard work, followed up by a battling spirit, and the weather intervening at crucial moments.
There’s a lot of talent in this side. It would only take an extra player or 2 to plug some obvious holes, and some more consistency (which is a mental issue rather than talent), to really push on.

It's a bit of a worry that Rhodes is going and we may see less of Bethell and Mousley because of England commitments. Hopefully this will offer more opportunities for the likes of Hamza Shaikh and Kai Smith.

Well done Will, again. The fact that he does not need to play an innings like that, speaks volumes. He could have easily played a pretty 60 and sat in the pavilion with his feet up but he got stuck in and got the draw which looked unlikely after yesterday mornings debacle. The management should hang their heads for letting him go. Great not to lose to our neighbours and keep our 'Unbeaten v Worcs in CC since 2000', going. I think Shaikh will get a good run in the side but as we have said on here, a good overseas player is needed but who? Batsman or bowler? Retired from Tests or not? Would love a big, nasty fast bowler who could play a whole season.

Yes me too, or a spinner like Harmer!! I take it Ethan Bamber is more a successor to OHD and Rushworth?

Always had my eye on Marco Janssen. Fast, left arm, bounce, can bat at eight. South African so probably not too expensive and could normally play the whole season (not all 2025 as SAf tour). It's fantasy cricket though, I think if he was a CC possibility he would have done it by now.

With the emergence of Archie Vaughan, Somerset now have three spinners (though I suppose Vaughan is more of a batsman). I wonder if one of them could be persuaded to move?

Forgot about Ethan Bamber. I think Rushworth must be close to retirement so to replace him...

Rhodes will be sorely missed. Looks like we are safe in Div 1 for another season. Time to give 2 or 3 young 'uns a run.

Better effort second innings salvaged a draw. We will really miss Rhodes and need to replace him with a quality middle order batter, along with adding a match-winning spinner and quick bowler to the squad for next season.
Robinson's interview afterwards was interesting. Instead of the usual excuses and taking the positives, he called out the bowling and batting underperformance in the first innings. Quite unlike him. Perhaps he is fearing for his future.

I had the same thoughts about his post match interview.
I do wonder if Robinsons approach to interviews was a clue to his mindset for the year. Didn’t seem too fussed by the CC or even the ODC. Gave platitudes, cliches, kept saying it was fine. Because what he cared about was the T20.
Now they’re out the T20, he’s realised he’s let everything else slide, and the pressure is really on.
