When Moeen signed his white ball contract, I thought he said he would be open to some red ball cricket, if required? If so, as England have dropped him he could solve the spinner role?

His contract has some stipulation for play-as-you-play for red ball as I recall. I was noodling this when Mouseley and Bethell got called up (and of course Mo didn't). There's one CC game when both are away he could play that would be a lifesaver. I don't know if he's got it in him to play a lot of red ball, having said that, can't see him playing all the CC run-in and Mousley will be back after this one game.

I think Moeen would be okay for a couple of CC games. It would give the bowling a boost as he's a decent spin option. Also, he can be very useful with the bat!

Moeen has announced his retirement from England. But it doesn't seem likely that he'll be playing for the Bears. In hias retirement interview, he says about the future:
"A bit of franchise cricket, because I still love playing. But coaching is something I want to do — I want to be one of the best. "

Probably a good thing. We need to focus on long term players who are around the club for the whole season.

Hardly worth him coming back, must have been a decent payday and that's it. Never seemed to have his heart in it all those years ago and it appears to not have changed.

The Moeen signing was purely a marketing thing. His availability is sketchy and he doesn't seem that invested. This is the problem with signing mercenaries just looking for their next gig.
I wish him well on the franchise cricket circuit and going into coaching. He would be a better batting coach than that fraud Frost.

Let's hope he doesn't replace Robinson. The club needs an experienced proven replacement and Trott would fit that perfectly.

Not being able to see into his mind, I have no idea how personally committed and engaged he has been. He did finish second in both the batting and bowling averages for the Bears in the Blast this year.

“Moeen has still got a lot to give the game and a lot to give the Bears in white ball cricket. He’s been a great influence in the Bears camp since his return to Edgbaston. There’s no better player for our young guys to learn from. As a Club we congratulate him on everything he’s achieved and hope he can have the best of his remaining playing years with the Bears.”

With his success in all formats of the game, and his selfless character, surely Moeen is the sort of person the club needs, as a player and eventually coach, to share his skills and experience with the younger players?

Yep his loyalty to Warwickshire is questionable. I hope he’s not involved going forward!
