What do we think the team will look like? Do we know if Sam Hain is fit?

The club are not very good at communicating team news or player availability/injuries.
We will probably get a squad published today. Who knows whether Hain or Rushworth will be playing? I assume Davies, Mousley and Bethell have returned for duty.

No news of the Somerset squad either, though they have released three bowlers on loan so must be pretty confident of the form and fitness of the rest.

Have the club provided any explanation for the absence od Sam Hain? Or indeed on the continued absence of Hassan Ali?

Hain has a hamstring strain apparently. It would be a blow if he isn't fit for the T20 QF.
Is Hassan still in the country?

I just hope we pick a balanced side for the first time in a while.
Can’t keep going in a bowler light, it’s been a classic Robinson approach. Uses the injuries to avoid making the hard decision which batsman misses out (or the personally inconvenient one) but makes the side weaker.

I would expect the side to be

Barnard
Bethell
Briggs
Burgess+
Davies*
OHD
Mousley
Rae
Rhodes
Rushworth/Booth
Yates

Although based on ODC performances Chris Benjamin has a good case for been included, especially as he scored more runs from less innings than Yates and Sheikh.

There must be a mistake - no Benjamin !!
Pity we didn't win the toss.

Yes, good to see Shaikh get his chance.
Unfortunately it’s raining again.

Yes agree about Shaikh - I thought Kai might have been given a game too but I suppose still need to keep the side balanced and strong.

I think Shaikh is an excellent talent. But his performances in the ODC have definitely not demanded his selection. His time will come next season when Rhodes leaves.
But what makes it worse is that once again we’re a bowler short, in a season when we can’t bowl teams out.

Agree that some red ball would be good for Hamza seeing as he's played well in long format games this summer. I'd say good chance for him but that Somerset side looks very strong with bat and ball. Seems they have recruited well, and that they have developed their own players too.

This is also true. Three 30s I think. But his performances for England A and county select in red ball have. I think he's more of a red ball player.

Put in to bat - excellent start just a shame Davies got out
