This is desperately sad. So many memories, 2021 title winning season, particularly the 6fer on that flat one at Old Trafford, Taunton away in 2019, obviously the 9/62.

He was extremely close to getting on the England tour to West Indies in March 2022.

Was also a particularly nice man with impeccable manners who was always happy to chat, if you chatted to him even just once he'd remember you. I'll really miss Liam Norwell the human being as well as Liam Norwell the cricketer.

It's crazy how many of that 2021 title winning side have moved on, Sibley, Rhodes, Bresnan, Norwell, Lamb, Stone. Also Pop Welch, Farbrace. Also fringe players like the Brookes brothers, Johal, Hose and Garrett.

I've said on this forum before we do have a large/regular turnover in staff in comparison to other counties.

Sad, but an inevitable outcome really. That 9/62 will live long in the memory!

Too right. One of the greatest individual performances that I've ever seen - and it probably stands up there, as one of the most important contributions to our Club, in recent times.

Good luck in whatever life holds for you, Liam.

Yes, can only concur with what others have said - and wish him well for the future.

Yes, he was a real diamond, had never even seen him play before he came to us and in the only CC game I recall from the past few seasons v Gloucestershire was 2018 in div 2 and he wasn't playing for them, Miles did (5-69) and as if to emphasise Andy's point, only Hain and OHD are left from that side. Whatever he does I wish him well, he has a CC winning medal and it is surprising the amount of great players who haven't got one of those.

Shame about Norwell but what a last match performance he made.

Officially retired from cricket, sadly.

The romantic in me (yes, there is one hidden deep inside) had hoped that Wisden would make him one of their cricketers of the year after his 9 wicket haul. It would, IMHO, have been justified but the editors didn't share my opinion. Great shame that it should have been his swan song but what a way to go.
