Warwickshire have signed 26 year old top order bat Zen Malik on a deal which runs to the end of 2026.

He represented England at under 19 level, has trialled prolifically at first class county second XI level recently scoring centuries in both innings for Glamorgan 2’s v Warwickshire 2’s and is averaging 104 for the competition.

Presumably a replacement for Rhodes.

Seems like a good prospect. We need to strengthen our batting ranks.

Interesting, wonder if anybody else is on the move? Would have thought we were quite well stocked for batters with Hamza and Kai Smith waiting in the wings.

A good signing. I've seen him a few times in Seconds games and he always seems to do the business (at least against us!). I think he fills a big gap in our batting lineup - and will do well.

I’ll never turn down the signing of a promising player. But I’m not sure, another fringe batsman trying to break into the side is the best use of resources.
Yes, Rhodes is leaving. But with the likes of Benjamin, Shaikh, Wylie, Khan and Smith, already part of the squad and not playing in the championship, I think I’d prefer the club to concentrate on top quality bowling options.
Seen reports today that Surrey will be signing Matt Fisher from Yorkshire. Not sure why we wouldn’t pursue a player like they.

Another seamer to go on the treatment table?

Agree on Zen, it's a bit of a weird one but like you say, wouldn't turn it down, seems a promising bat.

I thought I saw something that Chris Benjamin might leave at the end of the season? If so Zen is maybe more replacing him than Rhodes.

Yes, linked with Kent.

Fisher probably suits Surrey because he can be rested and rotated better.
But a seamer of that calibre should be high on the list.

Who’s reporting Benjamin to Kent?

Malik is in the squad for tomorrow.
