Is on the verge of joining Durham according to Dobell.

Also, Norwell out for the season.

Benjamin to Kent, maybe.

Yes, the suggestion is that Will Rhodes is set to leave immediately. That would be a great blow - he has been a tremendous asset to the Club and, of course captained the Championship winning team. There could be all sorts of reasons for him going so I'm not going to start allocating blame, just to say that, if true, it's a great shame - and to thank him for his contributions to the Club.

To leave at the end of the season. No suggestion as to where he’s going from the club.

Yes, looks like The Cricketer/George got it wrong about him leaving immediately. As for Durham, we shall see. If he hasn't signed for them yet, I would imagine there will be a queue of counties interested.

Durham have been eyeing him since the winter.

I think from a selection point of view we already have the players at the club to cover this loss. He's been a terrific ambassador for the club though an has given us great service. We've also been very good to him. I wish him well, liked him as captain.

It's a shame to lose one of the senior players. Rhodes has been honest and reliable throughout his time with the club. An underrated captain and player.
From the outside it seems he wasn't one of Robinson's "favourites".
Good luck to him at Durham.

A move to a smaller county might do Benjamin good. They may even have a proper batting coach.

As for Norwell, I was thinking the other day he would be a good option for the One Day Cup side. Alas, he doesn't seem willing or able to play cricket any more. I don't think we'll see him again.

Surely when his contract is up Norwell will not be offered a new one.

A big loss, a decent human being as well, never showboated when we won the title in 2021, just accepted the trophy and passed it about, enjoying the whole moment. Great pity, he has a few years yet and contributed at a very poor time for the club when we were losing the majority of the old guard and the team changed considerably but he held things together and came out of it deservedly with praise and credit.

Well said, paulbear. I think Rhodes' all round contribution will not be at all easy to replace. He's been having a good season and has several more left in him.
Thanks for your efforts, Will, and good luck.

A championship win as a captain is not to be sniffed at. As a player I felt he was a decent enough county player however I don’t think he quite kicked on in the way we had hoped when he signed. Formed a good partnership with Sibley when in Div 2 but often struggled at the start of a season before getting into the grove by September.

Will be missed but not irreplaceable. Having said that I don’t have much faith in our recruitment department at the moment so who knows who will come in.

Good luck to him, I’ll watch out for his stats in the seasons to come.

An average of 35.85 from 86 FC matches with 10 tons is a really decent record.

It will be interesting to see if Will plays T20 cricket with Durham next year.

It’s Durham is it. I just assumed Yorkshire.

Durham surprises me, wonder where he fits in there, wouldn’t be guaranteed a place in the XI unless someone leaves.
Lees
Jones
Borthwick
Bedingham
Robinson

Is a strong top 5.

I think he must be confident that he will play in all formats. As George Dobell says: " ... he is understood to be frustrated at his lack of opportunities in T20 cricket. He hasn't played a game in the format since 2021." So I would assume that Durham have given him some assurances about T20 selection.

According to reports the club are in a tussle with Durham to acquire Emiliano Gay’s signature.
Seen as a replacement for Rhodes leaving.
He’s announced he’s leaving Northants, but similarly to Rhodes, not where he’s going.

According to Cricinfo, Gay is destined for Durham rather than Edgbaston:
