Differing forecasts on differing platforms. One suggests no chance, one suggests we should get a game! What I can say is I live less than two miles from the ground and it's currently hammering it down
Fantastic win, I thought we were dead and buried 5 overs into their innings, that bowling unit is very effective. It wasn't just Hassan that pulled up, Gleeson pulled up too! If they're both out the bowling unit suddenly looks a lot weaker.
Also credit to Davies behind the stumps who I thought had an excellent game as keeper, and as captain.
But as said above the batting looks very fragile still. Yates and Hain you can rely on to get scores regularly. The rest play stupid shots far too regularly. Burgess in for Benjamin for me.
Mousley is frustrating cause he clearly has the talent and has made good scores in the past but he's well over a season now out of form. Bethell I think we give a little more time and if he doesn't make any scores bring Barnard in.
If the batting can match the bowling we'll be a seriously dangerous side. If it doesn't we'll end up in a similar position, or worse, to last two seasons.
Yeah, Gleeson looks quick
Pretty damning for the spinners that with 7 potential first team seam options unavailable they still don't get picked. Maybe the pitch is really tailored that way though.
Am glad to see Simmons get a go though, we need to have a look at these sorts of players/give them experience.
Or the second...
We do seem to get some stinkers of decisions down there
Again! He barely played for them (at least initially) last time he was called up as well.
Incredibly sad news that Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker has died at the age of 20. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cpegzx4kz5xo
He played in a second XI game earlier this week.
I'm sure everyone on here, and at Warwickshire, would want to join me in offering sincere condolences to his family and friends. Tragic news.
I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere on this forum but probably not had a singular discussion on it, the age of our seam attack must be a concern:
The only ones under 30 who could play red ball going forward are Booth, Simmons and Miles (I included Booth and Simmons as they've been in match squads this season). Miles hasn't exactly been first choice and the other two are almost totally unproven.
What is the plan going forward? Where are are seam bowlers coming from?
It's the area we seem worst at bringing players through from the academy as well.
Edit - We have Woakes, Rhodes and Barnard too, but the latter are probably better classed as part time and Woakes we barely see/is 35
Play abandoned for the day

Difficult pitch to score quickly on I think.
Which, if we are to have any chance of winning this game, we will need to do in the second innings
Well if it makes Davies and Rhodes better batsmen then it's genuis/long may it continue!
Is Highveld waiting for a sub 100 opening partnership before posting?

No sound on the Hampshire stream or just me?
He's been picked up by Chennai Super Kings for remainder of the IPL.
Potential to impact when he starts with us.

Maybe not! Win by spin apparently.
Although I do think a draw is still pretty heavily the favourite result, especially with the weather.
Interesting that Yates has been given so many more overs than Bethell but so far he has done a very good job with the ball.

Decent showings so far from Tazeem Ali and Shaikh. Three wickets in each game T Ali has played and a highest team score fifty plus two single figure not outs for Shaikh
First baller yesterday for Sam
